I was wondering if a link could be added on an auction/approval page just below the seller's name (next to the view seller's other auction link) that would auto create a PM with the auction/approval title that a potential bidder can fill in his question and just hit send to transmit it to the seller. Right now on the auction site, a buyer has to click on the seller's name to access their profile, click to send a PM, describe the lot in question and type in his question.

Just trying to make it easier for someone to fill that empty space in their collection.

re: Ask a seller a question button

Just checked some approval book listing and see that would not work for them with their current format. But it would fit into the auction screen format well so let's just consider its use there for the moment.

re: Ask a seller a question button

My only concern with extra features is that every "feature" adds complexity to the overall programming. What sets this site apart from others is it's elegant simplicity and bulletproof operation.

I know that "just one more" little item probably won't tip the scales but enough of them will. I guess I just don't see an extra mouse click or two as a big problem. Not trying to be contrary but I find that modern life is just a little on the fast paced side.Hobbies are supposed to be for relaxation ....

Just my two cents.

I wholeheartedly agree. Our son sells ebooks and has designed and written most of the software for his extensive web site (the original version of which served as a model for the Stamporama web site). He spends several hours a week just keeping his web site operational, not to mention improving it over time, and updating his current operating system or installing new ones. He is constantly dealing with various glitches, bugs, dead links, and complaints from people who don't know how to use their computers or can't read simple instructions. In addition, he has to write new articles, is always working on a new ebook, and has to keep up with professional literature. It is more than a full-time job, and he won't be getting a gold watch when he retires!

I imagine that Tim Auld, our webmaster, is in much the same boat, with this difference: he is a volunteer, whereas our son is making quite a decent living. While ideas to improve the Stamporama web site are always worth talking about, those discussions must take place with the understanding that Stamporama functions entirely through the generosity of volunteers who donate a lot of time to the club. We need to think of ways to make their lives comfortable at the same time we consider changes to the web site.

Mike--

On the front page of each approval book, the name of the seller is listed there as a "Live link.". If you click on the seller's name, it goes to their profile, where there is a "Send a Message" button right there. BOB

Mike,
I'm in the middle of doing some work on the Auctions. I'll see if I can include something like you are suggesting as a part of the current enhancement.

Regards ... Tim.
