Moderators, you may wish to move this to another thread. I thought it best to send it first to a popular section of the DB:

Tonight I received an email, supposedly from PayPal, indicating a charge handled by eBay in Australia. It's bogus, as confirmed by an easy google search of the email address. Here's what the email looked like:

If you get a similar email, don't respond!

If you receive a similar email, go to your PayPal account through a separate window or tab (do not go through any links contained in the message - never click on a link within a suspicious email) and check your account. If no "bogus" charge is there, then you are OK. If there is a charge you do not recognize, immediately contact PayPal. Do this for the next couple of days.

Thanks, Bob, for the head's up.

What Bobby said, but also, always report these to the company involved. In this case, PayPal. Forward a copy of the email through this link
