re: Roo stamp

No picture, so I assume seller IDed it correctly, that it is unused, and you used watermark fluid.

It is possible that the stamp is from the edge of the watermark mat when the paper was produced. But normally, you will still see a trace of the watermark somewhere along one of the edges/corners. On some issues (not familiar with the watermark mat layout, you might even see the border of the watermark mat.

Put a pic here on the board, front and back. You didn't tell us much about it. What denomination is it. Very hard to give you an answer without more information.

Agreed, it's only guesswork until we have more info and a pic. Notice all the assumptions I had to make even to provide a guess.

Hi Brian,
I understand the lack of scanner. Can you describe the stamp a bit more for us? Denomination, color, used/unused? If it is a 1915 stamp it should have the second watermark, which is usually fairly readily visible. I've never seen one that had no watermark at all.

Tell us a bit more about it.

Regards ... Tim

re: Roo stamp

If it's Scott #99 it is a 2sh red brown issued 3/29 with W/M 203 Small Crown and A Multiple. $25.00 used $130.00 mint.

In Stanley Gibbons it is #110 2sh maroon. issued 3/29

Never heard of one without a W/M. Look closer. Or, get us a pic.

You do not need a scanner. Take a digital photo of the stamp. If you do not have a cell phone with a camera, have a friend take a photo for you. If you are unable to upload the photo to your computer, have your friend email the photo to you.

It's actually better to take either a camera pic or a cellphone pic, because you can take the picture while it is soaking in watermark fluid.

That reminds me of the number of times I considered soaking the computer in watermark fluid and setting it alight.
