re: recent acquisitions part 6 ?

My latest additions to my USA collection 319 and 370. I am trying to get all of the set 300 - 320. This is my 2nd one now. I already have 306 it will be a long time before I have 310 and 315 and an even longer time before I have 311, 312 and 313 but one I hope to have them all. I also want to have 371 to go with this 370.

Nice stamps!! I am getting more of a desire lately to buy better stamps one at a time instead of large mixtures of stamps. But where to begin? I collect world wide, so I have no idea where to start!

And there's my beloved Ben precancel on a Monkey Ward advertising envelope. That's prehistoric junk mail folks! And I was surprised that this one sold cheap... about a third of what my max bid was.

And remember the discussion about saving full covers today? And folks said they just cut the stamp off because they didn't want the clutter. Well, today's junk mail is tomorrow's rare covers!Happy

Very cool Tom,
That's another frame of the Gold medal award winning exhibit you're assembling. The 1901 Franklins on advertisements.

Do you have any of those on "Stamp collar" envelopes?

How many different usages, ways configurations etc could that stamp be exhibited?

I thought I didn't collect First Day Covers, but I seem to be buying a lot of them. Won an auction on eBay ($32.00) for this splendid silver album of QEII FDC's -- 25th anniversary of her coronation.

59 first day covers from different countries with maps, photographs, and a history of the country, etc.

21 countries feature the "Royal Beast" Omnibus. Mauritius being one. Four territories depict "Defender of the Faith issues. And others with their own designs.

I just can't get enough British pomp and circumstance. The pompier the better.

Cheers,
Eric

I am working towards an exhibit someday! I still have my silver award exhibit from the 1970s, and interesting enough I can leave it intact since I've since duplicated everything in it. I do want to attend a show, maybe that NYC event this year, so I can see what the current state of the hobby looks like. Then I can start something.

I do have a lot of advertising covers for the Franklin, but refuse to pay silly money. I believe I have a few collars in the hoard. I have been chasing precancels on cover lately. I already have way too many different items to include in a single exhibit. I could do a few frames on private perfs alone.

Today's deal of the day arrived! I had bid low on a lot of 50 different plate blocks. For some reason they are all blocks of six. I think I'll leave them that way since they'll display a little different than a common plate block.

Anyway, I was surprised to win this at $9.50... it's $19.54 in face value!

Portugal Ceres..these arrived today. Been waiting a long time for these, at a reasonable price.
Now a question from our experts. The 5E is smaller than all the others, and the perforation, especially at the top is a bit suspect. What do you think?

FYI, as a reference, on sale at Poppe Stamps, here is one I am using for comparison:

I just have this ugly feeling that my 5E is counterfeit, and will need to go back!

I see overall problems with the perforations. The right side has especially erratic presentation as to the size and spacing of holes. My call is bogus; major re-perforation at best.
