Which is why I play Magic online only.
Good point.
I haven't played magic in years. Nice to read a post about MTG on here. The lest I actively collect was Mirrordin. I think I still have an ultrapro folder somewhere with some cards in.
I was never the best player but we had get togethers at my house (10 people strong) and it was great fun.
Thank you for bringing back some good memories.
I found this passage hilarious. For those who know the game, I am a casual Magic player (as in Magic the Gathering). Along with stamps, I collect these cards as well. It is a fun hobby, and can be profitable (though it pales before stamp collecting). I got a kick out of the passage below (in the Comments below), because it reflects a real misconception about stamps people have nowadays. Though it has become somewhat of an underground hobby, there are well over 10 million stamp collectors worldwide, which easily rivals Magic. Anyway, I responded and put him in his place; when has a Magic card sold for 3.2 million? As I recall, the most valuable Magic card is about $50,000 or so. Anyway, couldn't resist. Here is his response to another player, angry that a famous collector had cornered the market on a particular card and drove the price up:

I find all this terribly amusing. First, I’d like to point out that this a COLLECTIBLE card game. At it’s roots and by design the cards are intended to be collected, traded, and even *gasp* bought & sold. Don’t like your old, desirable collectibles being expensive? Then I suppose you need a different hobby. Try stamps, or even Pogs. Doubt those will be expensive any time soon."
