I agree 100% with Philb.
How can I hurt you some more ?
I don't see it Phil!
I've been watching the auctions and put a bunch of test auctions on a few weeks ago to gauge how it is working.
I only do the USA auctions, so if other categories are blazing, discount my thoughts.
Right now there are 679 current USA auctions
483 of these are from a single seller (71%)
196 are from mixed sellers (28%) Of these 196 only 15 (7.6%) have bids right now. I know that doesn't count the "Buy It Now"s that have sold.
In my test listing, I put up 58 items, ranging from plate blocks to US and Canadian FDCs. Sold 18 items, about 30%. I don't have an issue with that, fair enough.
I have bought stuff both from the auctions and approvals. Part of the downfall is when a seller only has a few items for sale and I want one 25 cent item. I see a lot of that, and if I cannot find enough to make purchasing worthwhile, I have to pass. I am an online buying junkie, so I love to buy things! IF things were available.
I don't know what the answer is... is traffic to the auctions limited because people have stopped browsing? What do we need to do to get things rolling? Or is it what it is?
Note that I do appreciate the free service and work of the moderators. I do have a ton of material I would list, and I'm not that worried about the monetary return, it's about the club interaction and getting stagnant items from my basement into someone's collection. If I know someone needs something, I'd just assume send it to them.
Not sure i am in the right topic area, the powers that be know how to move me around. Its good to see more members listing their duplicates on the auction. Most are quite reasonable with their starting bids...for me its a way of moving my duplicates around, i rarely need more than one of a kind...and well its a fun way of passing the time.
