re: engraved stamps

Hi Ken, thanks for the link. To make it a clickable link, highlight the address and then press the format "LINK" button below your message. It is underneath the preview button with various other buttons. Then it will appear like this:

http://www.engravedstamps.net

Moderator Note: I fixed the link. It was missing the "http://www."

For some reason Sheepshank's link doesn't work. Here's another attempt:

re: engraved stamps

Thanks Ningpo, I did not check the link but think it may have been because I had opened a new window and cut/pasted the original.
Oh well back to the drawing board.

re: engraved stamps

I've been looking at stamps issued by Czech republic and Slovakia since Czechoslovakia split. I see a lot of engraved stamps listed in the new SG catalogue. I thought fewer and fewer countries are producing engraved stamps nowadays because of the cost of this method of printing.

So how come Czech rep (pop 10m) and Slovakia (pop 5m) can afford it? Every year the engravers Milos Ondraczek , Vaclav Fajt and Martin Serb (and others) turn out beautiful work. But I'm not complaining!

This might have to do with the range of services available at whoever is printing the stamps, eg, to the printer with an engraving setup, every stamp is an intaglio.

Okay, that didn't work, but (perhaps) you get the idea I Don't Want To See
