Wondering if cachets 1-4 were for different events happening on prior dates?
The Space City Cover Society has produced dozens of NASA Local Post stamps and FDCs/covers from 1967 through the mid 80's or so. I had documented a listing of the issues from start until about 1977 while working on my Modern Local Post catalog. Only made it to vol. 2 F-M before real life interfered. Somewhere I have the listing. Joe Frasketi of FMF Local Post fame has a short history at http://spacecovers.com/misc/nasalp.htm
Hope this helps,
Tad
Tad,
Thanks a bunch for that link! Much more info
than I expected to find and so quickly!
I salute you!
I ran across these a few weeks ago;
In Lowell, Mich. there is a shop called Collectors Korner -
its owned and run by a friendly and helpful man named Roger,
who is a retired postal worker.
It is the only storefront I am aware of still in existence in Michigan
that sells stamps/covers/postal history.
It advertises as a dealer in stamps, coins, gold, silver, watches and jewelry.
I make it a point to visit there every month!
Anyway, I found this (partial) set of Local Post items;
I say partial set due to the printing at the bottom of
each cover that states "cachet #5..."
These covers were all that were in the bunch - I wonder what
the others looked like...
"Space City Cover Society"
...anyone heard of it?
...any info??
