re: NEW PURCHASES

You seem to have a penchant finding interesting stamps.

The vertical imperforation is ACSC 400bb.The book states that varieties b, ba and bb derive from the uncut booklet sheets placed on sale at philatelic sales points. The optimum collecting unit is a block of 9 comprising three imperf. between pairs and three stamps imperf. one side (Nos bc and bd). The booklet sheets were withdrawn from sale when stocks were exhausted in mid-1965. A total of 1,500 sheets of 288 (= 432,000 stamps) were supplied (normal booklets issued = 166,583,520 compared to the 432,000 vertical imperforations issued).

The top stamps with the wide selvedge is 400b, and the history is the same as the vertical imperforations (400bb).

Hi Rob

Thanks for the information, very useful indeed.
It was being in the wrong place at the right time, but sometimes I am lucky like that.

In the next week or so, I am going to buy some top quality stock books with slip cases, Do you have any suggestions what brand is best.

I have one it is a German Brand "Leuchtturm" and at the same time when I purchased it, I purchased some of their double side mounts, as well.

Would you suggest double or single sided mounts.

I also purchased a brand called Kabe, which is fairly good quality as well.

Hi Horamakhet

I normally use the "Vario" brand with clear pages and with the additional black backing that comes separately, and I use the double sided clear mounts, you can view the stamps both sides without removing the stamps.

The "Leuchtturm" album is quite expensive and are very good, but the "Vario" brand is suffice for me.

"Kabe" is okay.

It’s worth the time having double sided clear pages and mounts, it saves damiging them and allows viewing very easy on both sides.
