Can anybody explain to me the Flag Series and how they were printed? I know each sheet yielded a setenant block of four of the countries being commemorated. When sold to collectors, how many stamps to a sheet? I believe each sheet yielded 4 blocks of four of the countries being commemorated as well as the setenent block of four which would be 24 stamps to a sheet. Is there any catalog for United Nations stamps? I remember having an Lindner UN catalog back in 1972. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

re: United Nations Flag Series

The description in the Scott US Specialized is a little misleading.

A full pane contains 16 stamps. There are four of each flag designs on a pane. In the center of the pane is a block of the four different flags. That is the only way to get a block of the four different flag stamps. The remaining flag stamps surround the block with a block of the same flag stamp, but do not create another block of four different flags.

Here is how the pane is outlined (each number represents one of the four flag stamps on the pane):

1122
1122
3344
3344
