I have always wondered why the two middle-value stamps from this omnibus set (see an example image below) were issued with different perforations. Does anyone know?

Hi Michael.

The low and high values were printed by Waterlow and the middle values were printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson.

Hi Michael,

One other key difference is shown in your scan.

Both the Waterlow and Bradbury, Wilkinson stamps are recess printed except the Bradbury, Wilkinson ones have the country name printed by typography/letterpress.

You can see the differences in registration in the printing of the country names in the middle values.

I found on a site for sale 2 stamps from the series with the identification of the printing company.
Do they have an additional quote to the catalog? or is it worth buying them for 11 euros?
Thank you.

2009 Scott has the price of this around $21US. So that, IMO would be very reasonable for the selvedge attached.

But then, cost wouldn't be much of a factor if you REALLY want it!
