Bob.
Don’t know Paul Wright. But have seen listings/adverts for his shop in the Central Florida Stamp Club newsletter.
(Have been in the Orlando area for about three weeks. Am relocating from SoCal.)
Florida has been impacted greatly by COVID-19. Many small businesses are closed or open only reduced hours. Mask wearing has become mandatory.
Joined the CFSC a few months back in anticipation of the move. Until the pandemic understand the Club was quite active. Based on a quick review of the Club membership appears there are many dealer members. As such, perhaps a posting to the Club website would yield an update re Aztec Collectables.
Good luck.
Jim
Note: The previous version of this post contained some pretty bad errors. As a supposedly professional journalist, I hang my head in shame. The errors have now been corrected.
Thank you for responding, Jim. Late this afternoon I finally got an email from Paul Wright. It seems he misunderstood my previous email and was waiting for more information from me. Got everything sorted out, and will benefit from a $50 credit that he has given me.
You're in Florida! Yikes! Take care! We have done surprisingly well here BC, at least in terms of the impact of Covid-19. BC has had 198 deaths, compared to Florida's 360,394 cases and 5,075 deaths. BC population is about four times smaller than Florida's, which means that our death rate is much lower than Florida's. Most of that difference seems to be a result of our provincial government, which simply isn't putting politics ahead of science.
Our prime minister, Justin Trudeau, and our provincial premier have both deferred to doctors and to science to cope with the pandemic. Our provincial provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, has done an incredible job of organizing BC's response to the pandemic. The wearing of masks has been left up to individuals, and the majority of people do wear masks. Unfortunately, there has been a recent surge of cases, many among young people who ignored suggestions to physically distance themselves from others and to avoid large (and illegal) gatherings. One young woman who attended a large party passed the coronavirus on to every member of her family, one of whom died.
Disturbingly, there was a protest against mask wearing here in Vancouver today, with the protestors, called "Covidiots" by one of our popular TV reporters, claiming that Covid-19 is a worldwide conspiracy perpetrated by Bill Gates, who, they say, is attempting to form a fascist world government. One young and obviously super-ignorant woman said that the wearing of masks causes cancer and causes blood oxygen levels to fall to dangerous levels. Oh my. Do we ever need to improve science education!
My stamp club has begun having meetings again, but I haven't attended, which doesn't mean much because I have been going to meetings for the last three years or so, in part because the venue changed and is much more difficult to get to without a car. I gather that attendance has been sparse. Prior to in-person meetings, the club had a few virtual sparsely attended virtual meetings.

Not putting politics ahead of science !!! Where is it that silly idea for from ?
Next thing people, will be wanting experienced pilots to be flying aircraft, especial for landings.
The higher death rate in Florida is most likely due to the age demographics.
Florida percentage of people over age 60 - 22.2%
BC percentage of people over age 60 - 9.8%

I'd not count that out, but the premature attempt to open
the economy has to be involved as well.

Is this one of those trick rhetorical questions?
Here is what one member of the human race does to another member during a pandemic:-
A taxi driver is sent by their controller to pick up a fare. He is told that the fare is going from Perth to Dundee a distance of around 22 miles and will take about 30 minutes.
The fare is picked up, she gives the cabbie her address and they head off through Perth, onto the freeway for 19 miles. Two minutes from the end of the journey the woman picks up her mobile phone and is heard to say:-
"Aye. Its me. That's me out the hospital! Aye I tested positive for covid-19!"
Because of that woman's actions the Taxi driver now has to isolate for 14 days, may have caught the virus, may pass it on to his wife and children, unable to earn any money, his cab has to be deep cleaned and cannot be used for 7 days by anyone else.
Yes the stupidity of the individual within the human race!
This pandemic will run and run and run.
I have purchased several expensive covers from a dealer in Florida — Paul Wright of Aztec Collectables — over the last two or three years. About two months ago, I ordered several new covers from him and paid for them by PayPal, but they have not yet appeared in my mailbox. I contacted him by email after a month or so; he apologized, saying that his mother had been ill and that his assistant wasn't able to continue working because of Covid-19, but he would get the covers together and send them. When they still hadn't arrived after another couple of weeks, I wrote to him again, expressing concern. And now, 12 days later, I still haven't received the covers, nor has he responded to that last email.
I'm not terribly concerned about the money, which PayPal will probably return to me, and while I really do want to add those covers to my collection, I would hate to learn that Paul may have become a victim of the pandemic. Do any Stamporama members know Paul, or anything about his situation?
