What a surprise - the chairperson actually responded to my submission. Below is the letter.
That line about "showing the best of our nation" bothers be a little bit. If our objective as a community is to grow the economy and capitalism in the country we have to own to it and be proud of it. As to the "nation" thing, I do not want to go into technicalities, but based on current dictionary definitions defining us as a nation will be a big challenge.
I may respond to the chairpersons comments and make another stamp submission. It is fun creating stamps after all and unlike the stamps we currently print, my stamps can send a message.
Well done!!
"Well done!!"
While browsing through canadapost.ca I noticed that Canada Post accepts stamp theme ideas from the public. So I decided to submit something to them.
I created my own stamp , printed it on a cover and took the cover to the local post office. I asked the clerk if my fictitious stamp is too graphic to be on the cover. He said, no, it was perfectly fine. I then put a real stamp beside it - our 2020 Community Foundation stamp. It was the same size and a nice contrast to mine. It had a bear on it too.
This is what I wrote to the Chairperson of the Stamp Advisory Committee:

Stamp Theme Submission
I believe the stamp theme submission I make here will be appreciated as the theme is very relevant in recent months and might become even more relevant in years to come.
It will be really nice to see a large size definitive series on the theme "Growing the Economy and Capitalism in Canada". Stamps can be engraved just like the wildlife large size definitive stamps we have seen in the past.
The theme for the first stamp is already on this page. I am sure your artists will do better than me, but this poor animal I personally witnessed and touched while he was still warm!
Next stamps:
2. Forest Fires - Show how we've changed the climate to the point we are turning a rainforest into a desert and cannot breathe.
3. Littering along the highways (Show that Tim Hortons empty cup with the lid and the straw thrown in the ditch by a Budwiser beer can, a soiled diaper and a few plastic bags
4. Urbanization - Show us those huge industrial areas and parking lots that are dead land unable to produce oxygen, food and sustain any life
5. Pollution in the oceans - show those waters we cannot swim in, filled up with plastics.
6. Floods - Show the high waters taking out houses, cars and lives
7 Hurricanes and tornadoes
8. Deforestation - show us those barren slopes that will never have the forests back again. (planting trees actually does not work. Those small trees are no replacement for mature old forests and they will never become a mature old forest)
9. Covid 19 - Show us with the masks on, so we can see where we are headed
10. Air pollution - show those airplanes in the sky (from pre Covid days)
11. Oil and Gas - show us those ponds of bitumen sludge with the dead animals and birds in them
12 Spills - show us a spill, one of those that wipes out fish populations in a perfectly good mountain stream like the Cheakamus River near Squamish
13 Noise pollution - cars, trains, airplanes and all kinds of other noisy equipment - large and small.
I may have more ideas on the theme, but 13 stamps seems to be just the right number at this point.
SIGNIFICANCE
Let's admit to the world what we are doing in this country. They will understand. They are all doing the same thing!
We might at least get some credit for being up front telling the truth instead of continuing to lie and portray our lives as all "P" value roses, daffodils and hockey !
=====================================================================================
The clerk put nice cancellations on both stamps. Off went the letter. Hope the Chairperson enjoys it.
