This is from the reverse side.
another Washington related..the "Cunningham " covers had creases.
And here is the Newburgh Proclamation of Peace.
Doesn't "bicentennial " mean the 200th anniversary?
Neither of these covers actually appears to be 200 years after the event being commemorated. What am I missing here?
1932 was the 200th anniversary of U.S. President George Washington's birth.
Don
Oh ok. So the bicentennial has nothing to do with the dates on the cover other than Washington was involved?
Heres a Washington inauguration from 1939
Phil,
I need to revisit Washington's exploits in the Hudson Valley.
Ernie, a lot of battles in New York State..Saratoga was a big one.
Ernie,
the Hudson Valley is home to some of the finest strategic retreats in history, starting with the Battle of Brooklyn
There's an interesting book that covers ONLY the battles in the Hudson Valley, although put in a good context

Being from the Hudson Valley i have seen my share of Washington covers..many from the NewBurgh area. Only one of these is from the Bicentennial.
