I have been here at SOR for about 8 years, and have posted many things that I have since forgotten. Because SOR is going through a transformation, I started to salvage some of my old posts that were at the time the results of many weeks of study, scanning and writing.
Having a secure extra copy on my own computer is the motivation.

I have discovered so many old post and elaborate replies from the members here, over the time, that I have spent several days now re reading some of them. What fun!

It occurred to me that I could repost some (updated material) here, as the wealth of information shared at the time, and since then could benefit all collectors. But for the time being, I am having a blast on memory lane and finding some of the topics that were discussed interesting to just revisit. We have amazing resources here in the Discussion Board archives!

Want some fun, try the Trucial states discussions

This was one of my first posts and it got me in trouble with fellow member and pain in the ass "B.." as I commented that I could not believe the price asked for some of these "wall paper stamps", not realizing that "B.." had just listed some!... so I issued a series of explanatory remarks.

Just re reading the archives I found fun forgotten discussions on Egypt and the King Farouk collection, odd topical subjects (such as Saving the Nubia monuments), and more... WOW!

I am thinking that a Discussion subject simply named "The Best of the Old Discussion Posts" could put to the task many who have contributed here before and benefit all the current membership. Just survey the best of your old topics and share the link. I will start it in case the idea has some members here interested in looking at their own previous writings, selecting and sharing.

re: The Best of the Old Discussion Posts - So much fun re-reading some old discussion threads...

Thanks Niguel. Hope others will revisit their old posts and share too. My read today was about early SUDAN.

Re reading the old posts, and staying with the subject area (Middle East) for now as I continue to archive some of the old posts on my computer, I re discovered these two SUDAN related posts that made me return to my collection. Have only made insignificant progress on it since the mid 1990s, which is a shame, as I have but a few gaps.
Sudan is back in the news with the Ethiopian GRD controversy (Great Renaissance Dam), and recent border clashes. I should mention the Sudan study group here for any specialist. https://sudanstamps.org/sudan_stamps.html
and Mitch Seymour pages on Sudan for those who want pictorial references, and Mitch saves me again the task of scanning multiple pages.

Now for the Discussion posts and thanks to those (too many to list here) who contributed their knowledge, wisdom and humour (the added u is for Ian.) Their names appears next to their posts, but I have been delinquent not to mention how indebted I am to many of you!

I should add here that the 1897 Postage Due J1-J4 set of 4 Egypt stamps o/p Sudan are also prone to being counterfeited, although there is no mention of it in the Scott Catalog.
