Yup!
That is why feedback on ebay is B S.
Was your "less than perfect feedback" associated with "delivery time"?
If ebay has information about the mailing of the item (i.e. tracking number) it is possible that they would block the feedback if tracking showed mailed on time but delivery was slow by the post office. We have had "demerit points" reversed (which affect our seller status and thus search exposure) when the buyer indicated "late delivery" but our tracking showed it was mailed on time.
February and March were particularly bad for this.

For me, feedback is NOT forthcoming if there was a significant delay between receipt of my payment and posting of the item to me. Recently I beat on an Australian seller through direct communication who apparently thought that a week's delay was not a significant lag.
He had no room for argument, since the cancellation confirmed the date of posting.
He's now on my No Buy list.
It's pretty easy to withhold feedback.

Different Strokes for Different Folks Department (DSDFD);
If the seller is a professional or large semi-professional,
business entrepreneur, perhaps you are right.
However, not all sellers are much more than small time
hobbyists, unloading their duplicate items as they can.
For instance I know of one part time seller who is wheelchair
bound, who occasionally disposes of some items. To do so he
has to wrap an item securely, then address and label the item,
as well as, weigh and calculate the postage.
Then the fun begins since he cannot, for the general safety of
all concerned, especially children and hitch hiking pregnant
mothers-to-be, drive to the postal facility, but must hand off
the envelope or parcel to a friend,
relative, or one of a team of Doctor's nurses or handy
receptionists, RNs, and Home Health aides who chop into his
time continually, asking they drop off the item at the post
office (For safety) or secure mailbox.
This takes time and I am not counting the time lost eating
or reacting to some medications by dozing off at the most
inconvenient time.
Okay, perhaps that is a slight exaggeration.
Or maybe such people should just curl up in bed
and become a blanket hermit.
The point is that not everyone sits at the head of a well
organized sales organization just waiting for a buyer to
decide on a purchase.
In my personal opinion a week, while not desirable in this
computerised instant gratification society, is not always
"too long" unless some form of "Time is of the essence"
verbiage was exchanged, and agreed to.
Well said Charlie!
Of course what can add to a presumed delay is the time differences around the world.
No. Ebay has their own time and everything they do revolves around their time. It makes no difference to them whether you are in Hawaii or New Zealand.
However we have a culture developing that demands everything NOW, not a second later, in fact the seller should anticipate the customers' needs, the customer should not in fact have to bother ordering from the seller, the seller should know what a customer wants in advance of the customer actually thinking they need to purchase the item and the item should materialise in front of them without them having to wait a nano-second and as an extra they demand an "experience".
Everybody has to jump to their tune.
They may think they are the centre of the Universe but Hay-Ho they aint!!
We have gone from an easier type of life, to 24/7, to I want it all and I want it NOW!

Ian, I think you're onto something here. The buyer gives the seller an exported list of Scott numbers from the buyer's collection database, and the seller provides an approval book of only those stamps that don't appear in the buyer's list!

Aye!
Aren't human beings wonderful. We all have our foibles!
In the early days of eBay feedback wasn’t linked to a specific lot. Anyone could leave feedback on your account. People would post on message boards asking people they never dealt with for positive feedback. Trolls on the message boards would leave people negative feedback.
Feedback for buyers is useless because sellers can only leave positive feedback.
As far as delivery time, eBay is chasing Amazon’s tail in the general merchandise areas. Consumer buying stuff expect next day delivery of that case of paper towels. There never has been any attempt from eBay to separate the collectibles.. irony since eBay was founded specifically for collectibles!
Back when I sold part time collectibles, I processed each week’s orders on Friday evening and I’d mail it all Saturday morning. I considered that reasonable service. Nobody complained.
There are a few large dealers with thousands of covers listed that I buy cheap multiple covers on a regular basis. They can take a week or two to ship once paid. I don’t care because I knew it going in and nobody needs s stamp next day anyway!
How ebay and selling stamps has changed since i started in 1998...there seemed to be a bond between stamp sellers and buyers...i was selling more than i do now by description only..i did not yet have a scanner...now its an open city, anything goes.
It is not just ebay regarding feedback. I had taken a car in for service one time and the service rep told me if I got a feedback request from Ford and if I could not answer all questions at 100% that I should call the dealer first.
If you browse the written feedback comments for sellers, you can often spot some sellers to avoid but you always have to look for unreasonable buyers

A big doubleb"HUZZAR, HUZZAR" ! ! !
I recently had a transaction on ebay and wanted to leave positive feedback as i usually do.I wanted to give good feedback but not perfect. When i did not give 5 star performance in all the areas ebay blocked the feedback. So a positive feedback i would have left was lost.
