In trying to organize my recent Germany sales to win Ralph's favour - victory for me! Laughing - I was sorting my 2 shoeboxes of Germany "dupes to sell" into glassines by series for definitives and years for commemoratives (I still have 4 stock books sorted by catalogue #).

In the past 3 weeks I have posted about 1,400 stamps and 40 souvenir sheets in Approval books and figure I have sorted about 3,000 stamps (with about 9,000 more to go) - just in Germany+. Many came from my indiscriminate purchases once I decided to make this my major collecting focus.

I decided to coordinate the sales project with a review of my albums. This has lead me to editing some of my Steiner Pages and reorganizing my albums. Well, lo and behold! So far this dual effort has led to the discovery of 5 stamps I actually needed (including one high value) and the replacement of 24 with better copies!

A pretty good result I'd say - and maybe an idea for everyone else with bags/envelopes and boxes of supposed ""dupes"!

Happy hunting, Dave.

re: Re-check your dupes for hidden gold

Agreed! I've been selling covers on eBay lately so I'm going through boxes old and new, some I bought within the past few years and some hail back to the 1970s when I was a teenager.

It's fun finding homes for these old covers, a lot of covers and postcards going back to their town of origin. Those buyers are one piece, one time buyers, but they get excited and are enthusiastic with their feedback. I enjoy dealing with them, kinda like I'm putting the universe back in order!

Anyway, my point of this post... as I go through these boxes I've been finding long buried covers that I don't even remember ever seeing, that now I cannot part with! So I have a stack of pieces going into my collections! It's all good!
