Yes, the added correspondence makes it more valuable to some collectors.
Those cheap coin stamps come to life with the correspondence!
I wish I had collections like that!

that's the sort of correspondence that brings life to parts of our hobby. I have 7 years of correspondence between a soldier and the woman who would become his wife. He's mostly stateside during the pre- and war years, although he's sent to the Philippines for our second round there.
This had been in Mary Jane Campbell's collection, and I bought it shortly before her death, so it is doubly meaningful to me. It fills two banker's boxes.
So, yes, that corresponde IS the meaning, enhanced by Tongan stamps.

Hi everyone I bought a box of old stamps at an estate sale a long time ago. What was intriguing to me is the collection of Tonga Coin stamps that alone are not worth much. With the stamps are 1965 correspondence between the WWII combat veteran who owned the stamps and the Post Master of Tonga. The letters are very detailed about the Post Master and needing to buy a new boat for fishing. That he needed the gentleman to pay him soon for the stamps ect. There is also the bank note made out to the Post Master showing he did pay the man. Anyhow the letters and receipt along with the stamps and envelopes really tells a story that I find wonderful to read. Does this kind of a little set with a story add any value to the stamps involved or make it more desirable to some collectors? There are 6 letters in all and from what I gathered the WWII was a Marine stationed in the South Pacific and I think this is how he and the Post Master had originally met. Thank You
