YUP!
There are bargains out there.
They are even better when you didn't know they were there!
You make your own luck by looking. Well done!
Happens all the time on ebay. I always bid on lots where there are not enough pictures taken.

Back in a simpler century i sent some APS circuit books out...i don't know if i made a profit between the shipping, insurance and the APS commission...but after my books made their rounds they were returned to me. The owner of the Manzoni stamp offered it as mint no gum for $120.00 and had no takers. Perhaps someone more familiar with the circuit books could figure out why the book was retired and not returned to the owner ?
Phil, it could be one of two things:
- sellers can have their sales books that have run the course of the regular circuits reduced in total net price by a percentage established by the seller, and added to the clearance sales books for two years.
- sellers can donate retired books to the APS
o.k. i am a packrat...when we go out to APS Hq. in Bellefonte i spend hours going through the retired circuit books looking for a find....i purchased the remains of two Italy circuit books for very little money and i did not pay much attention to them until i returned home. I could not believe my eyes when i saw what appears to be Italy #170 the high value of the Manzoni set with an unused scott catalog value of $725 ! Why in the world would a stamp like that be languishing in a retired circuit book ? There are no comments about it in the book as sometimes happens when a member spots a fake. The APS did not pull it as a fake..they let it be offered as a legit stamp. So no one purchased the stamp and it ends up in my hands ?
