I read "Taipei" but that would be really silly.
I had a parcel I ordered from a seller on Ruby Lane sent to China instead of Canada, that's silly as well but it happened. Both countries start with "C" and end with "A" and as dumb as it sounds I blame it on a semi - literate postal worker!! There's no such thing as "silly" any more - anything can happen!
Happens all the time. A letter, parcel, whatever, gets placed on the wrong plane or boat, and off it goes until the mistake is discovered. I had a magazine sent to me from Gibbons in the UK. Took so long to get to me, I had forgotten all about it. It was mis-sent to Thailand. I gave the cover to a friend collector.
You got my curiosity up... It looks like "taipri" to me. I found numerous references to "taipri".

I can't figure out if this is a province of Taiwan, a town, etc.
Good eye!
Is there a reciving, forwarding cancel on the cover?

I just saw a cover that was addressed to British Columbia but was missent to Colombia.
I wonder if it is at all possible for one piece of mail to get stuck to a bigger piece of mail by adhesives or whatever stickiness and end up in the wrong place.
Yes, it's not just possible - it is fact.
I've heard of it happening more than once and saw it once in person.
A label came off of a large flat, left adhesive residue and carried another piece with it before it was discovered and returned to the sorting center to be then sent to its proper destination.
I dont recall the destination of either piece.

I have seen misdirected letters and packages a couple of times, but most of the time I could understand the confusion. I live in the small town Sint Maarten in the Netherlands. There is also an island in the Caribbean, part of the former Netherlands Antilles called Sint Maarten and the last year alone I noticed a number of letters sent from North America taking a Caribbean detour. One package was mailed in Las Vegas to our address, but ended up in Kyrgyzstan first and then was mistakingly redirected to Sint Maarten the island before finally, after almost half a year, ending up at our place.
It can of course also be due to the mail sorting machines that do not read the addresses correctly.
So most likely the software that does not recognize all places and/or countries.
St. Maarten as a place in the Netherlands or St. Maarten the island in the Caribbean.
What is more common?
Sint Maarten in the Caribbean has about 40 times more inhabitants than Sint Maarten in Noord-Holland, the Netherlands. However, letters to the island should be addressed place (e.g. Philipsburg), Sint Maarten whereas letters to the place are addressed Sint Maarten, Netherlands.
Anyway, errors will occur when there are multiple places with the same name.
In the spirit of this thread, especially with the note from smauggie, I'll add my example from today's mail. I had been wondering about the long delay in receiving a mailing from just south of British Columbia, in Spokane, Washington (yes, containing stamps). It was postmarked on February 8 and had a very clear laser printed mailing label with my address in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada plus postal code. I noticed two faint red "missent" stamps on the envelope, and between the two I can make out that my envelope took a trip to Tortola, British Virgin Islands on the scenic route between Washington state and British Columbia. Thankfully it did arrive, and its sunny vacation was short since it took a bit less than a month to complete its journey.
I just got a note today from our board friend Abderrahmane Yessad in Algeria. He just got the cover I sent to him on April 27, 2021!
My favorite miss sent story was my mortgage closing documents, back before things were automated. I needed to close on my new house immediately as my rate lock was expiring. The package went from Red Bank, NJ to Hazlet, NJ about 10 miles. And it went lost. I begged and pleaded and the mortgage company redid the entire set of documents. Normally a party to the transaction is not allowed to touch the package, but they made an exception and handed it to me. Did I mention this was in the middle of a snow storm? I got it back to Hazlet and handed it to my attorney so we could close immediately.
The package showed up at my attorney's a month later... somehow it was sent to Puerto Rico.
I won a lot in the UK £93-00 a couple of weeks after his post time passed I sent him an email and he refunded my payment ,a couple of weeks later it finally arrived the seller had addressed it to the USA instead of Australia ,and of course I told him and sent a picture along with his £93-00 Of course he apologized for the mistake , some one had written Australia on the cover luckily .

I’ve been mailing a lot of eBay sales abroad. Some countries have a five digit postal code that the sorting machines could read as a zip code. So I make sure I put the country name in big caps below it!

" ... But I guess this gives us both hope that I will eventually get the stamps and he will quickly thereafter get the money!!! ....
That seems to be precisely why he chooses to reverse the usual procedure. I'm also awaiting the arrival of a nice stuffed packet from Algeria as well.
