I have encountered the same situation with German stamps where due to the colour of the paper the ink of the same colour appears in different shades.
Hi Gerom
I'll have to try and remedy this somehow.
Rob
As these aren't your scans, I would guess that the "right" shades have been manipulated during scanning to enhance their appearance.
As a quick FYI, members of the IPDA (Internet Philatelic Dealers Association) turn off all adjustments during scanning.
I once ordered three copies of the same stamp from an on-line stamp store because each stamp seemed to be a strikingly different shade from the other two. When they arrived, they were identical. I know that the company I bought them from employs several people just to scan stamps, so I suspect that each of the stamps was scanned by different scanners and computers, with scant attention paid to settings.
Bob
Hi Bob
I think you may be correct, different scanners can result in different shades.
Rob
Hi Dave
I think Bob may be on the right track, as the other two stamps were done by a camera, the first stamp was scanned.
Rob
Hi Rob,
here I go again, off on another tangent to try and find pairs like those.
Franz
Hi Franz
I'll be sending you on a few more tangents soon.
Rob
I've finally found all the medal flaws and will soon have them in my collection, all are MUH. He are the other two with the scarlet red already collected. I have no idea why the stamp on the left is different in colour than the scarlet stamp on the right when both are the same shade.
