In your place I would try pressing them as one would a used stamp and see what effect it has.
"I would try pressing them as one would a used stamp"
Thanks Roy...I suspected as such. Damn shame for those with serious collections who used them at that time. Fortunately, my dad did not encase too many stamps in this crap.
Which mow reminds me....my most expensive set on my store is in similar encasings. I better "free" them all and see how they fared.
This has really opened up my eyes on the buying end.
I had a ton of them in “The Hoard” - mostly Germany (which got me collecting that area). The only thing you can do is soak them to clean off the gum then press/dry.
The upside is that you have beautiful “MNG” stamps that when put in your album in good modern mounts look fantastic.
Dave
PS Keeping them allowed me to sell any MNH copies with much higher values and reinvest the proceeds into buying more good stamps.
Good idea!
Some of my dad's mint stamps he mounted in the old Crystal Mount. In the last 50 years, shrinkage has occurred. This results in the stamps having "waves" in them when removed. Does this have a slight or significant lessening of value?
Damn shame, but, so far, no stamps with a CV over $10 have been involved.
