Hard to have an opinion without looking at the listing. Post a link if you want a more informed opinion.
As to sellers who have only private listings or hide their feedback. I have found roughly 100% of the time they are doing something they don't want you to know about. I never bid on any item listed in such a way or by such a seller.
Caveat emptor.
Try item # 134023767131 on Ebay
Simple answer is that the seller ticked the box that made the listings private. Googling the question brings up a number of articles.
The Ebay ID's of the buyers are available to the seller but not to other buyers.
Personally I would steer clear of any such items but not all are scams.
Edit to add.
Another reason to steer clear is the fact that the seller does not accept returns!
Mel,
I agree with both of the others, but he does have perfect feedback ratings. There is another stamp available, without a certificate, at half the price and this seller does accept returns and you look further there may be others at a better price.

I don't know anything about this stamp but a seller who does not accept returns and has private listings are both red flags.
I would want to see a picture of the back either against a black background or backlit to try to figure out how bad that thin at the top is.... from the front view it looks like a deep thin.....
The seller may have perfect feedback, but for what? Only 21 of their 145 current listings are for stamps.
Thank everyone for your comments and feed back. I had considered his no return policy and also his asking price for other stamps that he is trying to sell. (Overpriced!). The German Scott #C42 is the only stamp I need to complete my German Air Post collection. It is the cheapest one that I could find that had a Cert. There are a ton of private re-prints available so it is very easy to be fooled if you are not careful. There are 3 different overprints and 1 with no overprint for the same stamp so you have to look closely to make sure that you are bidding on the right stamp.
I have also asked for a scan of the back of the stamp, as I also have reservations on the size of the thin. I have not heard back, but will wait a few days to see if he complies.
After all is said and done, I will probably keep looking. If anyone has a genuine for sale, let me know and maybe we can make a deal.
Mel
EDIT. He added pics of the back of the stamp on the listing. I bit the bullet and purchased the stamp. I will let you know the final outcome.
Opinions please. I am currently looking at a stamp on Ebay where the seller has a 100% feed back. However all the feed back shows "Private Listing" and does not identify the item purchased. There are 2094 feedback listings and they all show the same. The item comes with an APS certification, so I am not really concerned about the stamp, but am curious as to why all the listings show as they do.
Any one have any idea why?
Thanks for the help.
Mel
