The SG catalogue lists SG86 with an earliest recorded used date of 24 June 1965. I found this block, likely per favour, and likely backdated, showing a crisp Tarawa cancel of 4 June 1965. I've sent it to SG who have acknowledged it, but due to it's likely status, I doubt the catalogue will change the date.

re: Gilbert & Ellice Islands Discovery

Thanks John, but we're both wrong. I misread the catalogue, where SG states 26/4/65 as the earliest known postmark date. The date of issue was, presumably, 30 Oct 64, but the first recorded usage was 26/4/65.

Unfortunately, my brain transposed 26/4/65 to 24/6/65, so I look a tad silly now!
