Well, for me, once in a while I get international mail that looks like it was totally submerged and soaked in water, and the contents completely ruined. Attached is a picture of a stamp shipment from Lithuania but I had it also happened to magazines from Australia. It's like sometimes the mail decides to swim here instead of taking an airplane or boat.

This is one of my pet peeves. Every shipment I send is on a stock card, reinforced with a stiffener, and securely wrapped inside a sealed plastic bag. Is it really that hard for sellers to do that?
I once received a beautiful group of MUH British Bechuanaland that had become papier mache in the post, and the seller didn't give a damn.
Steve,
How were the stamps damaged?
Water alone should not damage them, unless there is colored paper inside the envelope that permanently stains the stamps.
I guess it would not be a good day for me to play the lottery. Last evening I stopped at my post office box to pick up a nice collection of a country I collect. I saw it would fill some of my holes and make a nice approval book for the remainders. It was in a paper folder type of envelope. I also then stopped at the grocery store for a few items including a large bottle of water. I got home and place the envelope and the water on my counter. I got involved with other things last night and went to get the envelope this morning to my dismay - I saw the water bottle developed a small leak and there was water all over the counter and yes - it soaked the bottom of the envelope. I opened it up and a good part of the stamps were ruined - the moisture soaked thru on the left side of the album pages. I was able to salvage a few of the stamps but I lost at least 1/2 of them. Now I really do not have enough left to make a viable approval book. My only good news was I only paid $60.00 for the collection - it was a great buy but that got washed out ! Steve
