There is very good demand for well centered copies, either MNH or lightly hinged. F-VF hinged copies are ubiquitous and go for very low percentages of catalog. I have seen dealer accumulations at Canadian auctions go for less than 5% of catalog (multiple copies, none of them particularly desirable, total catalog value $3,000 for less than $150.)
You should get some interest in the 10% to 15% of catalog range.
Personally, I believe that the problem is the same as the problem with early Great Britain stamps, and is associated with Scott's move to pricing VF centering. For issues like this where a very low percentage of the available stamps are actually VF, they are assigning a catalog value to the issue on the basis of what? maybe less than 10% of the available stamps? (Maybe much less). That leaves the rest of the stamps selling for what appears to be a very low percentage of catalog.
This can also be seen in the Unitrade catalog, which prices various grades. On average, VF (hinged) is priced at 3x F hinged. In practice, most dealers will price F-VF on the basis of the Fine price, without adjustment for a split grade. In practice, the market price difference is even greater, because the "retail percentage of catalog" differs as well, reflecting collector preference. Taking, for example the 7c red brown (Scott 114), Unitrade prices VF at C$35. I would have no problem getting C$15 for that stamp lightly hinged, or about 40% of cat. However a F is priced at C$12, I would be delighted to get $3 for a F-VF hinged example or 25% of catalog, resulting in a 5x relationship from VF, LH to F-VF, hinged.

It's a gorgeous series of stamps and with so many types/varieties/errors that you could make a whole collection out of this series alone. I have the basics with a few colour shades and since my album showed 126a, 128a and 130a, the part perforate coils, I got those as well - pairs, not blocks! The 130a was a bit pricey, the others were OK. What I would really like to have are a few of the cheaper examples of the Admiral Lathework, wonderful looking stuff! Does anyone have any they could scan and show so I could drool a bit? They also did lathework on the imperforate series, a postage due and some war tax stamps. The Unitrade has a couple pages on this stuff!! Any Canada collector of varieties has to have a copy of this catalog!! It's not perfect, nothing is, but it's much more inclusive than anything else on the market!
By the way John, I check out your Hipstamp store regularly. Great stuff there, I just picked up a really fantastic early Canada precancel there at a very fair price. If anyone collects Newfoundland you might want to check out his Newfoundland stamps!
Harvey...you are too kind. Thanks!
I have never had a lathe work stamp from this series. They look lovely in the catalog.
There are a few lathework Admirals on E-Bay but they seem a bit pricey to me!

Ouch...I agree.
Back in the winter I acquired a very nice unused collection. Pretty much all denominations, and most F-VF and F. Since listing them in my store I have had very low interest in them...both buying and views. Is this issue out of favor for some reason these days?
