I have seen lots of ads to buy stamps in old comic books, but this is the first I have ever seen an editorial column about stamps.

From the comic book UFO Flying Saucers #2 from 1970:

Also an interesting intersection of three of my hobbies (stamp collecting, comic book collecting, and UFO/Fortean stuff).

Hi Josh! Just curious which comics you collect! I started when I was old enough to have an allowance and was very lucky my mother didn't throw my collection out as happened with most people. I collect Marvel Silver Age from about 1960 to the mid 1970's and also some Gold Key and DC. I have somewhere around 4000 comics. Most are not that valuable, even thought I still have my very well read Amazing Spider-man #1 from 1963. I especially like the Marvel Westerns - Kid Colt, Rawhide Kid and The Two Gun Kid. They're easier to pick up since they are a bit out of style right now. All I care about is the story being all there since all mine are read and handled. I still order new old stuff on line and still add to my collection! My dream is to find a really rare comic at a yard sale, but no such luck. I went to a local antique auction about 40 years ago where a box of early super hero material sold for more than the man's house did! It was an actual attic find and included early Golden Age material. GOK what it would be worth now!! What do you search for?

re: Stamp page in old comic book

Hi Harvey!

I've been trying to build a complete collection of all X-Men and related titles (X-factor, New Mutants, etc) until about 1990 or so. I was heavily into X-Men as a kid in the 90s (my brother was into Spider-man), so as of last year I started to try to acquire all the comics I wanted when I was a kid. I also seriously got into Marvel Bronze Age comics, especially the horror books or short series like Devil Dinosaur or Omega the Unknown.

I do have a bunch of bronze age Marvel westerns somewhere - unsure whether they are original stories or reprints. The westerns seem hard to find in nicer condition - I think the super hero books were what the original nerd collectors liked to save in pristine condition. I know I have some Kid Colt, also some Gunhawks, and at least one issue of "Night Rider" who was originally the western "Ghost Rider" then changed again to "Phantom Rider' probably because of the David Hasselhof TV show. I do collect the 70s-80s super-hero Ghost Rider too. There is a story arc in West Coast Avengers where the West Coast Avengers team up with the Marvel western characters (time travel plot?).

If money were no object, I would get more into silver age or pre-code horror. Only silver age I have right now besides X-men is some Captain Marvel, Doom Patrol (including the first appearance of Beast Boy), and Herbie the Fat Fury. I do have one original EC Weird Fantasy, then a bunch of 1990s EC reprints.

Have not read too many yet - I figure I can buy now, then read later when I retire.

re: Stamp page in old comic book

Just a quickie! There were only 7 issues of the 1970's Ghost Rider western and it was my favourite since it sort of hit the super hero area as well!! I was really upset when they stopped them. I think he is supposed to be the father or grand father of the newer motorcycle version which started after my "end of collection" date. There were a few titles I have bronze age stuff for - Conan and Kull especially and all versions of The Phantom, Tarzan, Supercar, Turok, Mighty Samson, Korak and a few others, mostly Gold Key. I'm missing several of the expensive Silver Age Marvels but have a complete Daredevil, Sgt. Fury and a few others. I'm missing a few of the early X-Men and because of the TV shows and movies they are very pricey. It's a great hobby and lots of fun. Mostly I get my stuff from local antique dealers who have my want list and also MyComicShop.com. Actually when my days are up the on line shop is going to be contacted by my executors and they agreed to send a rep around!!
Again, thanks for letting me talk comics a bit!!! Time to give my diabetic cat his second needle!!
