Interesting. Notice that the Seller is not from the US. He appears to be making some $$$ from his Shipping Fee. He does have a 100% Feedback though. Notie, also, that he begins Auction with low $.98. On this Lot, I suspect they are Sierre Leone CTOs. His other Lots might be OK (not all the same cancel date and place).
Can't imagine it makes economic sense for anyone to prepare fake kiloware lots by affixing stamps on paper, cancelling them, trimming them and selling them in lots. A fake canceller will come at a cost . Those stamps in the lot are pretty common too.
It definitely exists - one of the Pacific Island countries philatelic bureau put out an offical advisory at one point. I think Tuvalu, but cannot find my reference. I have also bought a kiloware lot that was mostly common worldwide stamps glued to thicker paper and smudged with purple ink to try to make them look used, some of the stamps had previous CTO cancels that the forger must not have realized.
Here's another link - Postlynx is out of stock of Sierra Leone, but if you click the links for Rwanda they flat out say it is manufactured kiloware:

I'm very thankful that, except for a couple thematics I collect (Disney/media), I have no interest in newer material. With the way that faked crap is showing up I must make it difficult to collect most newer stamps. It's hard enough with the repros of the classic material floating around!! Not that there's anything we can do about it but it must be influencing the hobby!
In this hobby the mis-use of terminology is one of the biggest problems. For decades nearly every piece of terminology has been mis-used either through ignorance, cultural differences or deliberately used to mislead.
One must always be aware of this and be critical to examine what it is you are seeing or reading.
Unfortunately there is absolutely nothing that can be done about it, except have a bloomin' good moan!!
The stamps are not close cut so paying for a lot of extra.
Fake kiloware doesn't surprise me one bit. There is a lot of counterfeit US stamps on the market. Ebay, Facebook and the USPS don't seem to care.

Check out this lot of ebay for Sierra Leone kiloware. Note all the stamps seem to be cancelled Freetown Oct 12 1989. Anyone else think this lot is fake and not actually postally used?
