My girlfriend bought me the 2025 Pocket Stamp Catalogue about a month ago. Previously I used the 2011 version and I think I’ll keep using it.
The 2025 version is pathetically lacking the user friendliness factor. The only reason I used the pocket version was to inventory my pre 2011 collection and because the Specialized Catalogue pages fall out after a couple years leafing around, so I only used the Specialized for deeper research.
The Pocket Catalogue is using the same, find the alpha numeric stamp picture first just like the Specialized whereas the older version of the pocket version used the Scott# as the picture number. The darn pictures are so small now I have a hard time using it. Even the photo layout on the pages is distracting. They reduced the number of check boxes from 3 to 2, so now I can’t track, used, MH, MNH. My trading partner also mentioned missing stamp pictures. I think I’ll skip the updates in the future and just get new Specialized Catalogues. Enough venting.

There was the Harris catalog. The free Mystic works. What feature do you like in in Scott's?

I just bought the 2025 Scott's US Specialized catalogue also. I was using a 2016 3-ring binder version. I have the same problem as OP and have shelved the 2025 catalogue unless I need a more current value. I would not recommend the 2025 pocket version.

re: 2025 United States Pocket Stamp Catalogue

I'm onboard with angore and have been doing exactly what he has suggested for some time now. For several reasons. The #1 reason is economics and I just cant feature a justifiable reason buy the Scott U.S. Specialized annually because the values for the stamps that I hunt and fly speck for haven't changed enough at all in five years to quantify such an expenditure to the tune of over 150 shekels in some cases. Even when I do unload that kind of coin to get one it is usually for the values by grade section. Because I already have the older copies for referencing and identifying everything else. The older catalogs have that value to them which is priceless.

Besides the retail catalogs give a more accurate picture of what the market is doing anyway. When I sell which doesn't happen very often. I get three different retail catalogs and compare the prices with the current Scott catalog and find the average of all of them and then ask for 30% of the retail average for the decent items, sometimes closer to 60% & 70% for the better items, then 2% to 5% for the bottom of the barrel space fillers of course it is all dependent on condition.

It would be nice if the publisher would sell the values by grade section as a supplement the same way they do for their albums. I can't speak for everyone but I could see myself making my wallet lighter for the annual cost of let's say 30 to 50 shekels for one. I think that would be easily doable. That is my two pennies worth of opinion.

Here is two cents more. I would even spend the same kind of coin for the digital copy of the supplement that way I can just print it out myself. I know that Scott sells digital copies of the catalogs but again I just can't quantify the expense to the tune of what a paper copy would. But that is just me.

Jeremy,
I agree with that idea.
My specialized is 2018, and it works fine for me.
When I really need it modern, my local library has it!
I actually have just written to the editor of Scott Catalogue as I agree, a supplement would be a great idea.

The printed version of the 2025 Scott US Specialized is not supposedly available yet.

I concur, I placed an order for the 2025 Scott US Specialized December 8, 2024 after Scott sent the email stating they had their printer issues resolved. It still have not shipped.
