Fantastic items, thanks for showing!! I have one like this, I picked it up at an auction lot of locks and keys and it had a pad lock and key inside. Robertson's was a ships supply store in downtown Halifax. The store is now part of The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on Lower Water Street, a must see for any visitor. @1899
Question. When you indicate that the RB20p with plate number is a space filler, do you mean that it fills a blank space in your collection, or that it will do until a better copy is obtained? I cannot see the back, but from the front it looks like a very nice copy. If you mean that it is a space filler until a better copy is obtained, can you point out the flaws that make it a space filler and or show a copy that you would not call a space filler.
Intack chads = Space filler!
OK
I forgot to mention scarce or even rare plate number!
I'm not from the USA but even Google didn't respond well to 'Intack chads'.
Is there an American version of Gibbons 'Philatelic Terms Illustrated' ?
Look at the horz. hyphen holes, the chads are still intack!
@londonbus1 — I think 1899 is referring to “hanging chads” — “blind perfs” — in which perforation machines don’t uniformly cut through a sheet of stamps, leaving behind little disks of paper that are still attached, or “hanging”. That’s gotta be a reference to the election in which Bush Jr. beat Al Gore after the Supreme Court made a ruling about “hanging chads” on ballots in Florida. Much can be said about the importance of minuscule bits of paper!
You are correct sir. The reference to chads is a term I haven't heard in a very long time but it certainly applies to the topic of philately now doesn't it? Those little pieces of paper are hanging on for dear life. Incomplete perforations or blind perforations caused by worn out punches in the perforation machine.
The hyphen hole is a reference to a small rectangular hole used for paper separation. Look at a roll of paper towels or toilet paper sometime. It is also used a method of separating gasket paper in the Automotive industry.

I have been intrigued by forest wildfires since i was a teenager. I grew up in Southwestern New Mexico on the edge of the Gila National Forest. Every summer a small paramilitary airforce of aerial tankers, all warbirds, was tasked with dropping fire retardant; joining the pilots of those aircraft were smokejumpers, mostly young college guys who were paying their way through college by parachuting to wildfires in areas where there were no roads.
These postcards each feature a slogan cancel informing people could prevent forest fires if they just would do it. Smokey Bear, the mascot of the U.S. Forest Service, became the most well-known advocate of civilian fire fighting with his ubiquitous appearance on posters, stamps, in songs and movies. And postal cancellations:

Just today I received this small sample of "Fight Forest Fires" cancellations open postcards dating from 1922 through 1962. There's just one thing wrong: Relatively few people are able to prevent many forest fires, because many forest fires are started naturally, mostly by lightning, especially in the Mountain West where low populations mean that fewer people go into the forest.
In New Mexico, the majority of the thousands of fires that burn in the Gila every year are caused by lightning. Unfortunately, climate change has drastically altered the annual North American Monsoon, and the Gila is drying out following decades of successful fire fighting that left huge stocks of living trees and thick layers of forest floor duff (dead leaves, twigs, needles, etc.) ready to provide fuel for historic fires. In fact, its already happened: The Boy Scout camp where I spent two summers had to be closed permanently because of fire risk, and two areas where I spent hours hiking and camping burned in fires in the 1990 to unrecognizable landscape that resemble No Man's Land in the First World War.

You indicate that most of your recent stamp acquisitions are space fillers. Have you purchased those stamps, were they in a large collection you purchased or did someone give them to you? Just curious.
@mbo1142
I recently won a collection at auction.
A good friend Mr. Neiss gives me stamps sometimes.
Where do you find stamps?
I find them in large collections, and individual purchases on SOR, Ebay, Hip stamps, Stamps to Go, etc. I do not purchase space fillers. My purchases may not be VF or higher, but they are at least Fine and not considered space fillers.
Based on your postings indicating "Recent acquisition" and also indicating "Space filler" I was just curious if you were purchasing individual space fillers or they were being obtained some other way.
Some of the collections that I purchase contain space fillers.
I purchase individual space fillers for cancels I'm looking for.

A scarce little gem from the Jewish National Fund Teachers' Council for use in schools.
These would have been issued together with charts for pupils to affix the stamps to after learning.
It is often said that young people gained an interest in collecting JNF stamps and on to Israel stamps because of these issues, of which there are many. Later those same children gained an interest in Philately in general.
It is not a coincidence that every National or International Stamp Exhibition held in Israel is well attended by school parties who arrive at the venue by coach from all areas. The events open early to accommodate them but they visit throughout the day. There are special stamp events and corners for them at the Exhibition.
There are still many stamp shops in Israel too, probably more than any other country for the size and population.
Did all this begin with such issues as these ? I wonder.

My experence chasing cancels (about 40 years), sometimes cancels can be difficult, sometimes it's easier to enlarge the cancel to read it. But the most useful tool is just use common sense!

re: Recent Acquisitions 24
This past weekend at SCOPEX, State College Philatelic Exhibition, run by my local club, Mount Nittany Philatelic Society, at the APS, I picked up a lot of new material for my collection. These pictures are of some of the 3D items. Most went through the mail.
Here is a one-ounce package of tobacco wit rolling papers and the tax paid stamp.

I'm not sure what this held, probably address labels, I added it to my Dennison collection.

This is a leather woman swimmer that traveled through the mail.

Here is a Papoose sent through the mail.

This last image is a "Good Luck Bear" sent from Yellowstone Park. The Bear has two damaged legs on one side.

re: Recent Acquisitions 24
Fantastic items, thanks for showing!! I have one like this, I picked it up at an auction lot of locks and keys and it had a pad lock and key inside. Robertson's was a ships supply store in downtown Halifax. The store is now part of The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on Lower Water Street, a must see for any visitor. Great ship models, items from the Halifax Explosion and items from the Titanic including a deck chair!!

@1899
Question. When you indicate that the RB20p with plate number is a space filler, do you mean that it fills a blank space in your collection, or that it will do until a better copy is obtained? I cannot see the back, but from the front it looks like a very nice copy. If you mean that it is a space filler until a better copy is obtained, can you point out the flaws that make it a space filler and or show a copy that you would not call a space filler.

re: Recent Acquisitions 24
I'm not from the USA but even Google didn't respond well to 'Intack chads'.
Is there an American version of Gibbons 'Philatelic Terms Illustrated' ?

re: Recent Acquisitions 24
Look at the horz. hyphen holes, the chads are still intack!

re: Recent Acquisitions 24
@londonbus1 — I think 1899 is referring to “hanging chads” — “blind perfs” — in which perforation machines don’t uniformly cut through a sheet of stamps, leaving behind little disks of paper that are still attached, or “hanging”. That’s gotta be a reference to the election in which Bush Jr. beat Al Gore after the Supreme Court made a ruling about “hanging chads” on ballots in Florida. Much can be said about the importance of minuscule bits of paper!
re: Recent Acquisitions 24
You are correct sir. The reference to chads is a term I haven't heard in a very long time but it certainly applies to the topic of philately now doesn't it? Those little pieces of paper are hanging on for dear life. Incomplete perforations or blind perforations caused by worn out punches in the perforation machine.
The hyphen hole is a reference to a small rectangular hole used for paper separation. Look at a roll of paper towels or toilet paper sometime. It is also used a method of separating gasket paper in the Automotive industry.

re: Recent Acquisitions 24

"So I take it to mean that 'Intack chads' are poor roulettes making the item a space filler ?
Would this be correct ?"
""I think 1899 is referring to “hanging chads” — “blind perfs""
" Yes, one can see the horizontal roulettes (Blind perfs) have ruined the edges when they were separated top and bottom. The bottom right stamp is missing the hyphens.

@ 1899
You indicate that most of your recent stamp acquisitions are space fillers. Have you purchased those stamps, were they in a large collection you purchased or did someone give them to you? Just curious.

re: Recent Acquisitions 24
@mbo1142
I recently won a collection at auction.
A good friend Mr. Neiss gives me stamps sometimes.
Where do you find stamps?

re: Recent Acquisitions 24
I find them in large collections, and individual purchases on SOR, Ebay, Hip stamps, Stamps to Go, etc. I do not purchase space fillers. My purchases may not be VF or higher, but they are at least Fine and not considered space fillers.
Based on your postings indicating "Recent acquisition" and also indicating "Space filler" I was just curious if you were purchasing individual space fillers or they were being obtained some other way.

Some of the collections that I purchase contain space fillers.

I wonder.
'Jewish Children's Forest' issue from 1977-78 (5738). Sheets of 10x1. Rouletted.

I have just acquired this sheet with a single stamp and tab, which also exists in a larger sheet of 10. The labels around the stamp show images of a forest, earth with the moon being orbited by the Space Shuttle Columbia and 7 stars are depicted.
The 'tabs' at the top read (from right): Ilan Ramon 1953-2003; Take-off into space 16.1.2003; First Israeli astronaut.
The 'tabs' at the bottom are translations in French, English and Spanish of the inscription on the tab below the centre stamp.
