Excellent idea!
Let's get this party started. A 1204 used.

A very interesting stamp to start with. When the inverted yellow background was discovered it was decided to print a large number with the error intentionally on the stamp to take the value down of the few actually varieties in existence. This was almost the only time this was ever done!! If someone ever found a copy of the variety with the date it first occurred they would have a rare item indeed!!! I believe the reissue occurred on Nov 16th 1962 so a postmark before that would be very desirable!!
I have plenty more U.S. to share with this thread just no worldwide material. So here is another. A 475 double transfer.
Here is another that is really special for a couple of reasons. The first and most important reason is. It was given to me by a member of this forum and his handle is 1899. Thank you again Dave.
It is a U159 design type U44 and it is an EFO for a couple of reasons too. One the right numeral 3 is broken and not complete the other is the cancel was double transferred.
Finally what makes this cover so unique to me is that it was sent to a 7 or 8 times great uncle of mine. My last name is McLean and have traced it back to my uncle John from Pokeepsie New York.
Jeremy
I specialise in EFO's and varieties, so here we go!
This one's quite subtle, but nice. Australia 1973 with a 3mm colour shift of the grey on the robe

A not-so-subtle colour shift on the 1970 NZ 4c Puriri Moth

One more for now
A transient flaw on a lovely stamp

And now for one a bit different. I have a complete collection of Kaulbach Island stamps. They are local stamps to pay for ferry postage to and from privately owned Kaulbach Island off Chester Nova Scotia. The only other person in our group (as far as I know) who collects these is Cheryl Grantham. Her collection is really amazing to see since it also goes into the history of the island as well as a complete collection of all the stamps. We both have this error and mine is on a sheet which makes it interesting! The thing that makes it an EFO is the break in the rim in the first stamp in the second row! It also shows up in the regular sheet but this is the one overprinted for the last year of the service.

Nice one Harvey. We call that an error hiding in plain sight.

This is the famous Canada Bluenose stamp, the "man on the mast" variety! I think I picked it up a couple years ago from someone here with a picture of the variety and a certificate. A nice item, even used!!

One more for today! The missing bird on totem pole. There are 5 stages of "missingness", mine is, I think, a 3 /5!

Is the Bluenose a flat press printed stamp?
If so what is the cause of this EFO?
Edit: If this stamp is flat press printed, my guess as to the cause; detached relief.

I am a stamp collector, mainly because I like and appreciate the objects themselves, almost like little miniature works of art. I do what has to be done to actually ID the stamp and have very little interest in things like flat or rotary press printing or wet and dry printings unless I need it to ID the stamp. Rather than show my ignorance on certain topics I have decided to follow the wise path and "keep my mouth shut". That way I can avoid (usually) making a fool of myself. If anyone else wants to answer 1899's question please feel free to do so, I'm not going to get involved, it's safer that way. I feel that many times questions are being asked to see if the person being asked knows the answer rather than the asker trying to get information he doesn't know!

a comment and a question to 1899
on 295, is it a space filler because of those slightly nibbled perfs at UR? or the 3/16" shift?
on the 279B with overprint, because it wasn't added by the USPOD, that would make it a counterfeit or a forgery, and not an EFO.
On the 295 overall conditions warrant a space filler condition, I have the stamp in front of me you don't. Hope this answers your question?
On the 279B is a real USPOD stamp. The I.R. is a fake overprint, sure it could be counterfeit or a forgery or an EFO. Again I have the stamp in front of me and you do not! I think it's an EFO but you do not think so.

I'm not saying this to upset anyone but I know some people aren't opening some strings because they have no interest in the last item posted. What they forget is that by doing this they could be missing stuff they really want to see that's a post or two before that one. If you have time open everything whether the last post interests you or not. I posted a couple items on the EFO 2 string that should have interested the Canada collectors but almost no one saw them because they were probably not interested in the post after it. Even if you have no interest in seeing the post that is showing you should have a look anyway. Surely you're not in that much of a hurry!!
Harvey,
I completely understand and empathize with the message you are sending and agree with most of it. It just seems to me that there is too much childish comments and subliminal cheap shots/comments that one or two individuals take over what is supposed to be a fun thread and just ruin it for everyone else. Not everyone has the same taste pallet for the material that seems to be dominating the thread I started and that is do in large part because the individual who has been contributing the most to the thread has a large quantity of material to share with the rest of the world.
If that bothers some people then Contribute something else or move on to the next topic. It's that simple.
Don't make it personal and turn this subject/thread into a flame war of words of wit. It proves nothing other than a select group of senior citizens can act like their shoe size and not their age.

Well, since I am such an expert.
I would guess that some sort of chemical interaction took place. Even though all the features look the same except for the jacket, if you really look close, the one on the right is actually darker on all the features. Other wise, I have no idea. May be someone on SOR can shed some light.

Finally what makes this cover so unique to me is that it was sent to a 7 or 8 times great uncle of mine. My last name is McLean and have traced it back to my uncle John from Pokeepsie New York.

re: EFO's 2
And now for one a bit different. I have a complete collection of Kaulbach Island stamps. They are local stamps to pay for ferry postage to and from privately owned Kaulbach Island off Chester Nova Scotia. The only other person in our group (as far as I know) who collects these is Cheryl Grantham. Her collection is really amazing to see since it also goes into the history of the island as well as a complete collection of all the stamps. We both have this error and mine is on a sheet which makes it interesting! The thing that makes it an EFO is the break in the rim in the first stamp in the second row! It also shows up in the regular sheet but this is the one overprinted for the last year of the service.

re: EFO's 2
Is the Bluenose a flat press printed stamp?
If so what is the cause of this EFO?
Edit: If this stamp is flat press printed, my guess as to the cause; detached relief.
re: EFO's 2
I am a stamp collector, mainly because I like and appreciate the objects themselves, almost like little miniature works of art. I do what has to be done to actually ID the stamp and have very little interest in things like flat or rotary press printing or wet and dry printings unless I need it to ID the stamp. Rather than show my ignorance on certain topics I have decided to follow the wise path and "keep my mouth shut". That way I can avoid (usually) making a fool of myself. If anyone else wants to answer 1899's question please feel free to do so, I'm not going to get involved, it's safer that way. I feel that many times questions are being asked to see if the person being asked knows the answer rather than the asker trying to get information he doesn't know!

a comment and a question to 1899
on 295, is it a space filler because of those slightly nibbled perfs at UR? or the 3/16" shift?
on the 279B with overprint, because it wasn't added by the USPOD, that would make it a counterfeit or a forgery, and not an EFO.

re: EFO's 2

Surely you're not in that much of a hurry!!
re: EFO's 2
Harvey,
I completely understand and empathize with the message you are sending and agree with most of it.

1982 BPE event which had a number of much sought after souvenirs. Those were the days.
Shown here are the regular Souvenir Sheet together with a copy missing the year and 'ge' of Orange.
In all my years of collecting Stamp Exhibition material, I have never seen another one.
It is now listed.

Condition: I'm calling this one no condition as I think it's printers waste
