I too will miss Sandafayre. I won many auction items from them over the years, all of which have enhanced my collection. I wish the owners and staff the best for a meaningful retirement.
This makes at least two prominent stamp auctions to go belly up in a very short span of time.
Makes me wonder how many more smaller dealers have also thrown in the towel.
I always liked to peruse their pricelists and they were very professional.
Back in the day they attended some of the national "Fairs" and their stock was always a joy to behold.
Unfortunately folkies get old, retire and if their family does not want the business then the business disappears.
My best memory of Sandafayre came at the International Exhibition at the BDC, London during the Festival of Stamps in 2010.
I was looking at their auction lots and show pieces on their stand and kindly asked if I could 'borrow' an item to take a photo.
He was very happy for me to do it. It was one of the largest pieces of German inflation Postal history known. A nice guy for sure.
Thanks for the pic rtvstamps.
Sandafayre has been instrumental in building my collections for Great Britain and France plus many other items over the past decade. I really enjoyed their auctions which I was involved in online from Washington state and more recently from Alabama.
That is sad to see them go.
Just like some other smaller dealers, including one in my club are quitting!
They say; coins are more lucrative!!
If you have a spare million pounds you can pick up their stock!

After 50 years of interesting auctions, Sandafayre/Cheshire Stamps has closed its doors. Its final auctions were held last May. It's a shame, as it was one of my favorite places, and I found some really great pieces there. Thanks Adam Butler, Julia Kelly and friends!
