Maybe this picture will help jar your memories. It has to do with who the Postmaster General was at the time.

Ah, small town Wisconsin. Love it. I live in small town Wisconsin near the Minnesota border.
Here is a fancy duplex cancel from our town which was originally called Osceola Mills. Now it is just Osceola, WI.

In my home town of Avon Park, Fla., all of the town's post office building's are still in existence and are in use. The first was a wood frame cottage circa 1890
which was moved onto Main street and has been used as a small gift shop, child's clothing shop etc. The second built about 1920-1925 has been a popular restaurant for many years. The third, built in the early 50's not far from the second, had no air conditioning and I remember the postal clerks soaked in sweat all day underneath big Hunter ceiling fans. The current building, from the 70's, is a block off Main, and still in use. That one does have AC LOL.
Let's see some pictures.

Sorry Jeremy, I don't have a scanner or I would.
This is a picture of my town Post Office. The pictures speak thousands of words. Take note of the dedication plaque and the names that are on it with the date of dedication. It is pretty darn cool if you ask me.
