That is unused no gum!
Value: VF: 1/2 of cat: $1,125~
Get it graded for sure!
How much did you pay for that if you do not mind?
$10? If so, wow what a cherrypick!
-Ari

This stamp comes in red, orange red and rose red plus several varieties. I have the first two but only used, I have 25, 25b, i and viii (the regular #25 is not shown here since I bought it later than these pictures ). I agree with what Ari says and yours seems to be the red regular issue but it's a great looking stamp, thanks for showing. I am not trying to upgrade early material to mint or I would be tempted!!
I've posted these before but here are my large Queens if anyone is interested! I also have large Queen #33 which is not shown below. Sorry, sideways again! No huge problem IMHO!

Joe thanks for confirming, that means that Canadian color study stamp lot I bought off ebay IS working for me!
Yay!
-Ari
agree with Ari and Joe: likely unused, with pencil marks, no gum.
I like the perf chad at the bottom left. at first i thought it might be a tear or repair, but then looked at the other corners and saw the same perfs
@Harvey
The second sidewise photo, the bottom 3 stamps, there is a label, the first stamp the label is under the stamp. The second stamp the label is on top of the stamp? Hope this label is not a gummed label.
Suggest using a glare filter on your camera!

Thanks Folks. Well, off to Greene. Believe it or not, this came from a "mystery box", Paid around $200. Aside from this stamp, I've listed stamps well over $250 (asking price) in my store and there are still many items yet to list. Lots of 60's and 70s including PB.
The danger here is that I will be sorely tempted to obtain any n"mystery box" I come upon.
What fun though!

Great stuff for a mystery box, congratulations!! I think it's time to take another look through your Hipstamp shop!!
There's a flip side. I won a small "Investment Collection" a few months ago. Some poor sap spent $2k on it back in the 70's when CV was said to be $1.8k. CV now is around $200. I will lose money on this one.
Form what I see, I would not get it graded!
why do you say that?
5 marks and perfs
To my eye, at least on my screen, there appears to be a very faint grey mark on the centre of the stamp, on the upper neck/lower cheek of the Queen's visage, which might be part of a cancellation.

JTH....yep, I saw that as well. One reason to send it off to Greene.
1899....I was going to send it to Greene just to hone in on whether unused or not. However, the real issue re: your eagle eye comments is that they are totally uncalled for. Sending for a cert is a personal decision. Also, the things you point out are not at all out of the norm for a 150+ year old stamp.
I am really getting tired of this nonsense!

I'm going to have to slow down and ponder whether it's worth posting here any more. The entire point of my inquiry related to new vs used. It had nothing to do with whether there were too many "faults" to be worth certifying. When I list a stamp, I try to point out any issues affecting value, and I price them accordingly. Not to mention, a potential buyer of a higher CV stamp will certainly be astute enough to value any stamp based upon condition and faults.
Finally, your "only positive comments" thing.....In the interest of decorum I will zip my lips.

There is no such thing as a “glare filter”. There are filters that alter the colours of a photograph, its degree of sharpness or softness, or the amount of light hitting the film. There are filters that add flare or sparkles to an image. There are infrared filters that block visible light. There are filters that block specific wavelengths of light to emphasize other wavelengths. And there are filters, called polarizing filters, that do a good job of killing glare and reflections in some situations, but not all situations by any means. One among the many advantages of using a scanner to create images of stamps is that glare and reflection are rarely a problem.

Ran it through image sleuth as well. No signs of cancel, but they can be tricky.Trying to decide whether to send off to Greene. Quite a difference in value. Any thoughts?
