Oh, and I know it's an American thing, but is it absolutely necessary to cram every bit of information about the listing into the title, EXCEPT the year of issue?
Oh, and spelling! I'd suggest that at least spelling the country name right might be a minimum requirement?
I hear and commiserate with you David.
Dave.....curious.....why is the date of issue of value if the cat # is present?
Because we all use different catalogues, and "the" cat number is "a" cat number. If you list a stamp as Sc123, that means nothing to me. If you list as Sc123 1932, I, and anyone using SG, Michel, Y&T etc, can find it. There's a whole world outside North America you know

Dave....you remind me of Glen Stephens.
I'm boarding a flight shortly (as he is wont to say - repeatedly) to come and pay you for that comment! I confess to being adversely affected by a Reddit sub named r/usdefaultism, where folks post social media posts where the conversation becomes about the US (such as a question in Russian, posted about a Russian issue, with a response like "well, if you live in Florida the answer is no". It's quite hilarious.
Dave. You don't need to hop a flight to pay me. How about I message you my PayPal address?
Why do you Aussies hate us Yanks so much? I always considered the USA to be relatively jerk free.
Lol, we love you guys. Jerks and all
There's one seller, who goes by the name of Asia2014, who lists everything in British Commonwealth. (Today's offerings come from Chile, Spain, Mexico, Russia, Uruguay, Colombia, Germany, etc etc. Almost 30% of today's listings of BC 1840-1970, the range that I search, were from this seller, and all were non-BC items)
I emailed Hipstamp about this seller a few weeks ago (yes, I know, I'm whinging), as I don't search for items I browse for the latest offerings. I actually received a reply from Hipstamp:
Thank you for reaching out and for bringing this issue to our attention. I understand your frustration with the incorrect categorization of stamps by the seller and the impact it has on your browsing experience.
I will initiate an investigation into the listings of the seller at https://www.hipstamp.com/store/marina-by-jc and address the issue directly with them. We strive to maintain accurate and organized categories for the convenience of our community, and your report is instrumental in helping us achieve this.
Please rest assured that we are committed to maintaining a high standard for our listings. Your vigilance is appreciated, and we thank you for helping us improve the platform.
If there's anything else you need, feel free to let us know. I'm here to help!
Such "appropriateness". Why not simply say "we'll check into it".
Yep, why use one word when there's a hundred available?
I'm an eBay seller mainly in the USA Postal History and First Day Cover categories. Before I started selling I made notes of good and bad things sellers did. I especially made a note not to copy the bad stuff!
Top of everyone's list is BAD PHOTOS!
As said, stamps and covers should be scanned. I see a lot of photos of a very tiny cover sitting on a couch cushion and the photo is 80% cushion.
Crooked photos- With my scanned images I will adjust them even if a tiny bit crooked... like 1% even makes a difference. I see them on 30 degree angles all the time.
Covers with black backgrounds. They look like mourning covers!
Listings without catalog numbers! And ones without cachet manufacturer. I will do a search with -Artcraft -Fleetwood and get back loads of them in the results! Why? Because the dolt seller didn't list the brand.

Like everyone else, my time is limited for online browsing (I don't search as a rule, I browse, as I'm usually hunting varieties). Lately, my blood pressure is heading north when browsing Hipstamp and Delcampe.
Here's a brief list of my (current) pet peeves:
1. Delcampe - the quality of images is horrendous. I'm talking counting-the-pixels horrendous
2. Hipstamp - sellers listing Yugoslavia and other random countries in British Commonwealth. Also, apart from stamps issued for a few years, Togo, Egypt etc etc do NOT belong in the BC listings
3. Delcampe - forgeries galore, glaringly, blindingly-obvious, made by carving a potato in the dark forgeries
4. Hipstamp - considering this is a stamp-only site, perhaps sellers could invest in a cheap scanner, and maybe, potentially, crop an image?
As you can probably tell, I've wasted my time looking today. I think I need a holiday. Rant over.
