Hey Clayton,
When and where did you take thes pictures? Could you tell us a little more what is shown? Perhaps everybody else is knowingly silent and I am the only one not getting it ?
Arno
Very inviting.

Old school US post office pictures. No hidden message here. I wish we could return to those days, where clerks were not AT ALL reliant on computers to get their work done.
Anyone still have a "philatelic clerk" in their P.O.? I grew up in Austin, TX, and from about 1970 until 1995, the main P.O. had a designated "philatelic clerk" and a specific window to service collectors and those wishing to purchase the "special" stamps. Before 1970, the pace was slow enough, and the employees friendly enough, that everyone at every window was a "philatelic clerk."
Bobby
All the philatelic windows closed in my area. When I lived in Montclair, NJ there was a Post Office about a block from my apartment. One of the clerks (Scott) would go through all the new stamps for me. Unfortunately, one day in 1995 he was murdered in the Post Office along with 3 other people. One of them my Daughter's, Friend's grandfather. One man actually survived the execution style killings. A truly horrific day.

All philatelic clercs are long gone in my country, Denmark. Only 9 (I think) post offices even have a postmark and sometimes they claim they don´t even though the specific p.o. is stated at the web site to have one . But the clerks at my p.o. are friendly and take the time to find the special stamps I ask for
Last I knew, nearby city of Grand Rapids (MI) had one.
Was the only one I've ever seen. Our member Bruce ('stampme') might know for sure....he lives in G.R.
I haven't trekked to that particular P.O. in a long time; maybe I should before its gone!

Bob (Parkin),
A very sad article....
$5000 for 4 lives.....leaves a sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Randy
We have two PO's in our little burg and one does have a "philatelic window", but she's not at her station most of the time, plus she hasn't exercised much knowledge towards philatelly, as far as I can see.
