I'll have what Ted's drinking!
Yep. Belly up to the bar and hoist a pint! Let's all get pissed!
I hear the Maltese stamps are tasty. Belgian ones are quite decadent. Mexican stamps have a bit of a kick, and after some Chinese stamps, you're hungry again about an hour later.
I was going to eat some Cuban stamps, but decided to smoke them, instead. One could make a nice buffet out of an old stamp mixture!
Bahahahahaha! Excellent thread! Just what I needed to get my day started!
so, we've gone beyond sniffing glue to eating it.
i'll have another short-ribbed paper barbeglue, if you don't mind
I'm on weight watchers; I can only have selvage.
Many of you know that I adorn old world wide unused stamps on the envelopes I send to my buyers. I can assure you that the old gum on some of those stamps tastes absolutely horrible. It is worse than five day old warm beer (I went to college; no need to say anything else about that). It's a wonder that my tongue hasn't fallen out of my mouth in protest.
I'm not sure how good used stamps will taste. I guess it will depend on the type of ink used on the cancel. Does the black taste like licorice? What about the blue and red canceling inks?
Michael: I have tasted many different kinds of stamps. I would say that they taste most like Chicken. Just various kinds of chicken like fried & Bar-B-Que etc.
Old stamps hinges all taste different. Their taste depends on what the original licker of the hinge had to eat, & whether he had bad breath, or not.
My friends - I believe it is safe to say you have all lost your minds and should be "certified"
Kelly
I also "decorate" covers and have noticed that the gummed stamps from the 70's have more of a "full body" than those from the 90's.
On a different (but strangely related) topic, I discovered that if you open up an old collection of PEZ dispensers and PEZ candy from the 90's or earlier, the PEZ candy tastes like soap. The bubble-gum from a 70's pack of baseball trading cards tastes like candle wax at best.
So maybe 40-year-old stamp gum holds up not so bad after all!
Gosh! I was so hungry tonight ,that I ate, a whole souvenir sheet. The only proper way to eat one, is to cut it into slices, & eat it as you would a pizza. ( Burp )

Some stamps have thread in them, so you can eat those too. More filling!
OMG....LOL
drmicro68: Please keep in mind ,that the person who started this thread, is a very odd person! I know him quite well & I am used to seeing him do odd things. One example: He will take a gummed stamp, and add gum to the front of the stamp,so he can paste the stamp on an envleope with the back of the stamp facing the front. He does that ,as a favor to friends, so that they will each receive an inverted stamp for their collection.
Anyone marinade their stamps overnight before eating them? The watermark fluid soak takes away the lousy gum flavor. I haven't marinaded stamps in lighter fluid, so I can't tell you how that goes. 'm sure someone will tell us how they got a bang out of that.
Snacking last night on some very tasty treats and got a perfin stuck. Need some of the threads to floss.
I hate it when I get a Penney Black stuck between my teeth and NOBODY tells me!
Worst then spinach tooth
Ouch! I have a belly ache. Here is a tip for all of you collectors: If you plan on eating a stamp, make sure that you remove it, from the Showguard mount before you eat it.
roughage?
This is all I can come up with for a response:

OK, who has the hiccups ?
The biggest problem I have is scraping the glued ones off the roof of my mouth when they stick to it.
How many stamps can one hold in their mouth at the same time, without swallowing any of them?
4th of July today; we're going to BBQ some nice souvenir sheets with a side of tete-beche pairs. Mmmmm! Washed down with a nice glass of Clarity watermark fluid too. (of course, Uncle Ed will be swigging Rosinol; there's one in every family!)

For my Desert: Brownies laced with 19th century European classics ( all with fault's )
Turkey Chile Greece = Hungary!
Gotta love this
After soaking some larger stamps, they curled up nicely to make a tasty philatelic pasta.
Just had a memory flashback..........wasn't there a time when the PO was going to release stamps that had a glue with mint flavoring?
Great for after dinner. But seriously, am I thinking of something else or did this really happen, maybe it was all a fantasy, do you remember this being spoken of?
Yes, I believe that they did consider that. Didn't Switzerland isssue a stamp that smelled like roses or something?
Several countries have issued scented stamps. Switzerland has done flowers and chocolate (it was difficult not to eat that one!). Korea also does flower scents.
For health reasons, just remember that if you eat a reprint stamp, you will get heartburn. If you eat a counterfeit stamp, you will get the runs.
"Didn't Switzerland isssue"
Just the thought of those Chocolate stamps makes me ssstutter also.
Mike
Ever see a stamp, that you like & admire so much, that you develop an urge to eat it? Or perhaps just a curiousity about what it would taste like? Maybe you feel that you overpaid ,or were cheated on a stamp, & this make you so angry that you crumple it up & swallow it?
Just wondering? Bon Appetit!
