These were my first stamp auction buy a few years ago. I was gently guided through the bidding process by the late great Mr. Tom Eckers.

A Service Dog gives a person with a disability independence. Never approach, distract or pet a working dog, especially when (s)he is in harness. Never be afraid to ask questions to the handler (parent).

Great blocks, Antonio! I have always like those issues, but often wondered what happened a second after the picture was taken? I Don't Want To See

Those are well worth showing off smauggie.

Don't pay any attention to Bobby, since geography is not his best subject, he doesn't realize the planes were 2500 miles apart when the picture was taken. Big Grin

Antonio!
I finally found something that you collect that I do not. I don't collect anything mint. Anything I get mint in a box lot or whatever I use for postage or sell it. They look like beautiful blocks, but they are just to clean for me. I like mine dirty.

For those that did not know Tom Eckers that Antonio referred to he was a great friend, a true gentleman and did a ton for the local stamp community here. I miss his friendship, corny jokes and stories along with his caring and compassion for everyone. I think everyone that met Tom sincerely liked him and he felt the same. Then of course he never met Obama.

re: Just Showing Off - My best Plate # Blocks with big showy pictures.

When I was a lad in the 1970's I was introduced to collecting plate blocks and inherited a wonderful collection of "old" plate number blocks from the 1940's and 50's. Now I realize most of it is discount postage, and do not collect current stamps for plate number blocks but may still pick up one or two classic plate number blocks here or there as I have not been utterly cured of it.

My US stamp collection (of individual stamps) is entirely used (with as many SON as possible).

re: Just Showing Off - My best Plate # Blocks with big showy pictures.

Whew! That's more like it. I thought we lost you for a minute. When I collected as a kid my Mom was a great supporter of my stamp collection as she had started it with my older brother. She was all about the great investment potential of buying new stamps directly from the post office. I know my insistence on collecting used frustrated her a bit. Good thing I was a stubborn little kid insisting on collecting 19th century used and revenues. I have stuff that I bought 40+ years ago that I could never afford now, or I would more likely spend that money on a cover today instead of a stamp.
I am still using all those mint stamps as postage although I am primarily down to three cent issues and it takes a whole bunch of them to get to 49 cents. I do still have a bunch of mint sheets to break up. Somehow that is harder for me to do than blocks and singles.
