Is there a reference or catalog for Ryukyu Islands postal stationery? This would be during the period of US possession. I believe I have some material that may be more specialized than what Scott US Specialized covers.

In Googling a bit, I was glad to learn about the Ryukyu Philatelic Specialist Society, and while they seem to have amazing depth in their specialist publications on stamps, I don't see anything about postal stationery.

And I see something on a specialist dealer's site that I'm pretty sure references a UPSS (United Postal Stationery Society) catalog number, but I don't see that publication available on the UPSS website. Does anybody know if the Ryukyus is included in their US catalog for postal cards? Or might this be from an older reference they once published?

Any other thoughts, suggestions, leads?

Thanks in advance for anyone's help!

There is Ryukyu Islands postal stationery, 1946-1958: Porvisional and regular issues by Belmont Faries.

There is also the Ryukyu Specialized Catalogue in Two Volumes by Melvin Schoberlin which includes postal stationery.

Looks like Mr. Schoberlin also wrote Specialized Catalogue of the Postal Issues of the Ryukyu (Liu Ch'iu) Islands Part I Postal Stationery of the Gunto Governments. And perhaps other related catalogs I could not find immediately.

You may also find this article of interest in Linns.

Edit: Found another one. Specialized catalogue of postal stationery of the Ryukyu Islands,: Issued under United States administration also by Mr. Schoberlin

Antonio:

Please accept my apologies for not replying yesterday. I got called away unexpectedly.

And now please accept my thanks for providing these leads and links. I very much appreciate your slogging through the underbrush these very helpful suggestions! I'll report back once I've figured out what's what.

Also, thanks for the Linn's article. Even though I'm an online subscriber, I haven't been that happy with their recent changes and thus haven't been going to their website. Add to that that I never expect to see an article that's directly related to a current project, so thank you for pointing out that piece!

Thanks again!
