Or perhaps I should say, that I enjoy, but perhaps you will enjoy it too. Day Dreaming

Here are a bunch of things I collect (not inclusive):

US Stamps
Perfins
Minnesota Postal History
Auxilliary Markings
Panama Postal History
US Postal Stationary

And here they all are in full glory.

Prexies with University of Minnesota perfins on postal stationary paying 8 cent first class rate to Panama. Returned with "Rebut, No Reclamada, Non Reclamee" (Return, Not Claimed) box and pointing finger that says, "Delvolver Al Cliente" (Return to Customer). While pointing hands are not particularly difficult to come by in US postal history, they are quite scarce from Panama (i.e. this is my only example).

Of course anyone who has lived in Panama, and who knows anything about the Panamanian postal system (the two are not mutually exclusive unfortunately) they would know that sending an envelope to a particular house number on a particular street is a recipe for failure. There is no mail delivery in Panama. If you want to receive mail, you have to rent a PO box at your nearest post office. There are no postal directories whatsoever.

The field of Panamanian postal history quite the adventure. I have not encountered any monographs, catalogs, exhibits or other philatelic literature pertaining to Panamanian postal history (if you know of any, please let me know). I would almost kill for a book called, "Collect Panamanian Postmarks". Perhaps I shall have to write it myself someday.

I always thought it was neat to pair up a perfin on stationary to which it belongs.

Smaugie, that is a nice cover that I would certainly have kept in my collection. The big question... did poor Enrique ever get his college acceptance?? Happy

The funny thing is Tom, my father grew up in Colon, Panama, and he did end up attending the University of Minnesota at about the same time (where he met my mother). I suspect if I asked my father he would know who Mr. Alcides is. They say Colon is a city, but it had a pretty small-town atmosphere back then.
