Josh, one red flag, if you permit me the saying, is that the red color remains on the stamp on the Olympic rings and on the Kuwaiti shield. I don't know how the stamp was printed, but the same color is generally printed on the same press run. I don't know if the missing red color was removed intentionally, or something else happened. You could send the image to Linn's/Scott to see what they have to say about it. You just might cause a new minor number to be created.
Hello,
I found this stamp in an auction lot I had just purchased - it appears to be a used 15 fils value from the Kuwait 1980 Olympics set (Scott 824), but it is missing the red denomination at lower right and Olympic logo at upper left. I do not see any varieties listed for the stamp in Scott or my 2006 Michel Gulf States catalog, and I only have the 1840-1970 SG BC catalog. Does anyone know if this is a listed variety anywhere, or if I've made a find? Or perhaps the red ink was water soluble or something...
Here is what the stamp is supposed to look like (cropped from an image I found on the web):
Thanks,
Josh
