Part of my collection consists of postcards and postal stationery from the colony. Occasionally, I have managed to find an unusual card over time but these are not at all common. I also have a particular liking for hand illustrated cards which came about before commercially produced picture postcards were available.

The first one is a Universal Postal Union card that has a printed illustration on the back. I have no idea how these came about. I don't know if these were printed without the knowledge of the issuing authority, or they themselves produced them:

I have always been attracted to oriental art. The Chinese and in particular, the Japanese, seem to portray a simple idea with great elegance.
