One of our members has contacted me about getting duplicate posting notification emails from the Discussion Board. Is anyone else seeing similar duplicate Discussion Board emails?

No. It's possible that the member is mistaking a second email containing an update as a duplicate. Since one would have to open the email and read to the end to see the update, it would be an easy mistake to make.

Yes I have been getting duplicate triplicate posts as well as duplicate notifications of stamps sold.
There was no email in the AM but when I turned on my computer after supper I had 133 emails from SOR many duplicates.
Looks like there was a hiccup in the system today.

This afternoon there was a problem. I was getting 4-8 copies of each post. It seems to have resolved itself.

I am not getting duplicate emails from SOR.
I was trying to find the time that a problem occurred when I was trying to post a reply in the Discussion Board. The system locked up on me for quite a while, then it went back to normal. I saw that KHJ had posted a reply to the same post 1 second before me. I can't find it now.
However, I tried to create a new posting after that. It was about the tracking web site. When I tried to post it, the system locked up on me. I thought maybe I was having problems with the internet, but it was only SOR where I had a problem.
I came back to SOR maybe ten minutes later, and was able to create and save the new post. That was around 11:17 AM Central time. So, all of this started around 11:00 AM Central Time.
I don't know if that helps.

Ok, I found it. The replies were on the Belgium P6 Newspaper Stamp thread.
My reply posted at 10:32:18am Central Time. KHJ was 1 second prior. That's when the system locked up until about 45 minutes later.

I just checked my emails and everything is normal down here. Maybe the Internet likes the sunshine more than what's available up north.

Our hosting service had a major outage yesterday afternoon that took a few hours to repair. This is from their website:
"There are still a few systems currently down that were effected by the power unit which has since been repaired. Phone systems are down temporarily do to a serial card failure."
Looks like the power unit not only did not supply power, but it fried a few ports on various machines. I think Stamporama was out for less than an hour, but one of my other servers was gone for about 5 hours.

I am still getting duplicate emails of Invoices I created. Today one was received at 9:25 AM and the next was received at 1:40PM.
I have not been to my Invoices since yesterday.

I have lost track of how many times I received the same email about the same invoice in the last few days.

I just received the same emil notification of an invoice at 2:25 PM Sunday April 12.
I keep getting the same email each day for the last 4 days, without having looking at my invoices.

Tim I have had similar experiences in the past where I will get multiple copies of the same email.
I found it wasn't the Stamporama server at all, but my own server that wasn't deleting or picking up that the email had already been sent and it was staying on the server as an unread email.
I have my email preferences set up on my server to delete the email once it has been sent to me. Otherwise over time I will get a notice from the server saying my box is full and emails will bounce back to the sender. I am limited to a certain amount of storage space on the server.
To fix the problem of duplicate emails when they happen I go into my email account at the server through Webmail, delete the problem email and then I never receive another copy of it from that point on.
Does this make sense at all?

This does make sense, but I keep getting the same email for the last 3 or 4 days.
It is the only email that I keep getting. I do not get other emails being duplicated.

Doug - Have you tried going into your email account through webmail to see if that one particular email is sitting there? If it is, delete it and see if you get it sent to you again. If you do, then you would know for certain that it is the Stamporama server who is sending out duplicate emails.

I have adjusted the timing of the program that sends out the email notifications. Please let me know if you are still getting duplicate emails. I'm particularly interested to know if the duplicates are only from Discussion Board Notifications, or are you getting duplicate emails from the Auction, Approvals, SOR Message notifications?

Were you buying off the Auction or the Approvals and were you buying a number of items (especially if they were Approvals)?

Yes, and I have mentioned it by PM to the person whose duplicate emails crop up quite regularly, in case s/he was unaware of it. These are not just re auction or trading/selling, nor are they (always) edited versions of previous responses. As has been said, it's a small matter, but it is out there.
