agreed, "posthorns" are a nightmare, especially for "old" eyes!

If I could just know how to sort them, that would be a big help. I could tell shaded from unshaded. The other nomenclature I found online kind of baffled me. Do you know of any web page that would help a beginner in this area?

I just finished cataloging several Norway stamps with lions on them. That was quite tedious! Some of them have 4-5 different varieties: different perfs, watermarks, sizes, etc.
