BuckaCover.com - 80,000 covers priced 60c to $1.50 - Easy browsing 500 categories

As you have read elsewhere on this Discussion Board, Stamporama moved to a new and vastly upgraded server this past weekend. It also changed its geographical location from Connecticut, USA to Beauharnois Quebec Canada (a suburb of Montreal which is only 150 miles {250 km} from me).

For me, Stamporama pages are now appearing unbelievably quickly, and I am trying to determine whether it is the server and internet connection (bandwidth upgrade) or the geographical proximity that is primarily responsible for the extra speed.

So, please share your experience with the "new" Stamporama compared to the old while it is still fresh in your mind. Are you noticing a difference? I would particularly like to hear from our European, Asian and Australian members on the subject.

They do seem to be a bit quicker for me now, but I never really had a problem with slowness in the first place.

From Fort Worth, TX.

Almost in the blink of an eye. As soon as my finger comes off of the mouse button, the screen appears. It loads as fast or faster than any screen that I have ever seen on the Internet. Stamporama loads 5 to 10 times faster than either eBay or Delcampe. Outstanding job Roy, Tim and anyone else involved.

Yes, it was loading faster ... until I stupidly upgraded Firefox to v.39! Now every website takes a while to load, versus when I had v.30; now I have to figure out how to reverse this mess.

Peter, Firefox version 39.0.0 did have a little bug that slowed things down. Try to upgrade to 39.0.3. That's where I'm at now, and things are running much better.

Also, what I have found is sometimes version 39, including the 39.0.3 iteration isn't recognizing the home page when the browser is started. To resolve that, I click on the down triangle in the URL box, my home page appears on the list, I click on it, and things load and run as normal/expected.

Hi Roy & Tim;

I'm on dial-up, and the AT&T lines out here have a low signal-to-noise ratio, resulting in my
56K modem running at 28,800! But I always found SOR to load faster than most other sites.

However it seems that now it is very much faster, than before.

So yes from Bitely Michigan, very much faster, and much appreciated. Thank you for all your
hard work to Tim and Roy. You guys rock!!!

Just chillin'....

luckily the SOR upgrade coincided with an upgrade of our interent from 3/3 to 10/10; we're occasionally seeing 70/10. So, yes, things are loading faster, but we haven't controlled for variables.
