I have a feeling that I already know the answer to this one and it's probably not the one I'd like to hear, but...

I haven't been able to find a confirmed example of this stamp to answer the question. On this particular stamp, is that the "tab" or just selvedge? I Don't Want To See

Image Not Found

If selvedge, is there any added value with the number?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

re: Israel Stamp Question

No added value I'm afraid. The tab on this issue is under the stamp. What you have here is a control (sheet) number on the selvedge.

Nice stamp though.

re: Israel Stamp Question

Thank you, I was figuring on that being the case, but wanted to make sure. Value isn't as disappointing as not being able to add it to the collection. The hunt continues!

re: Israel Stamp Question

Rob, while you got the answer you expected, and not the one you wanted, I hope you keep the selvage attached. It helps to document the stamp's position on a sheet or pane (sorry, don't know Israeli production) and distinguishes it from other stamps from the same pane.

re: Israel Stamp Question

Oh yes, absolutely. It'll stay as posted. It will go into the WW book, just not into the Israel specialty album. Aiming for complete '48-present, MNH w/tabs. As well as, block sets and s/s.
The journey at this point seems rather endless, but with a lot of luck and a little focus I should get there.

Ah, but Scott has moved it into the regular Czechoslovakia listings since it was issued in Prague as well as the province. It is Czechoslovakia Scott #254B.

re: Israel Stamp Question

As others have pointed out, this is not the tab but it is a part of the selvage of the stamp sheet in the upper right corner where the cyclometer stamp (the sheet number of the run). It has no add value. Interestingly, this stamp was later reprinted in 1969 with a tiny detail change in the tab stating "Reprint1969"Image Not Found
