It is being reported on other discussion boards that this firm will be shutting down sometime this year. This would impact users of White Ace albums, Artcraft Covers and Stampmounts.

Nothing on their site, although i have noted they have been showing several items as unavailable lately. Anyone else hear this?

In the past year, they have had their topical pages on sale... 50% off!

Not a good sign.

Its sad to see so many businesses that used to serve stamp collectors disappearing. We seem to have to depend more and more on the net .

re: Washington Press- Closing?

I've felt for more than a year that something was up. Noted they no longer seemed to be dong supplements for many of their album pages. Also now noting they are running a 40% off sale on merchandise extended to the end of January. Unclear if this includes their mounts and so I sent them an inquiry about that and also told them there are rumors about their future and maybe they need to make some attempt to let customers know.

That's a shame. I used their pages for the bulk of my US, CSA, and Topical collections. I suppose I better get busy finalizing those and see if I need to order any additional blank pages.

larsdog, Greetings:

Unless you prioritize a whole lot better than I do, I would suggest ordering the blank pages now, and finalizing later.

Q/ Will the leftover White Ace blank album pages of today become the leftover Dennison hinges of tomorrow?

Cheers,

IMO this is being handled very badly by WP. A lot of us depend on their products and it is starting to appear that they plan to just slink off into the night without letting their customers know. I sent them an email two days ago about this and of course, no reply.

That's interesting. The APS sells the WP mounts for members to use when creating sales books. I will contact APS to see what they know.

APS is checking into the possible demise of Washington Press. They received the news yesterday. They are trying to get information regarding the mounts, but WP has not yet responded to them.

Here's what the APS told me:

"We are not sure yet. I wrote them for some information about the news we received yesterday. Haven't heard from them. If the mounts are not available anymore, we will be checking around for quantity deals. If none materialize, the mounts will drop from our inventory and sellers will be on their own as they are with hinges."

I just received an update from the APS. They have received word back from Washington Press as to what is going on.

That simple 2 sentence statement on their website might have prevented a lot of confusion. But unfortunate news for cover collectors.

Pretty much the same thing is now showing up on other discussions I am following on this topic. So it must be considered the actual story. I am relieved, my concern was availability of their pages and also mounts. I use those for my plate block collection.

I also have a collection of Artcraft FDCs however I stopped on those with issues prior to 2000. It remains to be seen how discontinuance of this product will affect demand for the past 70+ years of product.
