El Salvador postage due stamp, 1899 series. these were issued from 1895-1899, each year being a different color, 8 values in each set.
Franqueo Deficiente = Deficient Franking = Postage Due
Stanley Gibbons describes this set without an overprint and without a watermark as being unissued and doesn't list this.
SG also states that the similar set without an overprint but with a watermark is believed to be bogus and doesn't list this either.
Scott lists both of these unoverprinted sets but notes they were probably not put into use.
Thanks for the info y'all. I have not checked for a watermark yet. But now that it has been mentioned, I will do that. IT is a mint stamp, and I have several others with no over-print also. I am glad to expand my philatelic knowledge and learn a little more about the history of my collection. Thanks again.
You must be looking in the wrong places online. As far as I know I show more different stamps from more different countries than any where else on the net except for modern issues. Believe me I've looked long and hard and it includes Stampworld and is much easy to find what you are looking for. See the link below when you are trying to find something or just sorting.
Could someone help me identify the year of this stamps issue? It is El Salvador, and I think it is some kind of revenue stamp, or perhaps a receipt stamp. However, I am unable to find any examples of this in on line resources.
