I am hoping to find a list of Canadian Post Offices at the beginning of the 1900`s....I have a box of old cancels(split ring) and even found a cancel that my late Mother(postmaster) had placed on an envelope and her handwriting redirected the envelope I am trying to find out a bit of history behind some of the now closed Post Offices. A list of offices would be of great help The website of PO is incomplete I am concentrating on NS esp Lunenburg and Queens counties...Any suggestions?

Nova Scotia postal history. Volume 1 - Post offices (1754-1981) by L.B. MacPherson might be of help, if you can find a copy.

Apparently Lloyd Macpherson put out a publication in 1981....I believe I have found one..... Thumbs Up ...

The Library and Archives of Canada has digitized the Official Postal Guides from 1863 to 1900. These can be seen at:

http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/postal-heritage-philately/post-office-publications/Pages/post-office-publications.aspx

These do contain a list of all post offices open at the time, but searching can take time.
