Approvals
Five things my "mother" did not tell me about Approvals...

1. Those little "New" labels: When a new Approval Book is issued, it will automatically get a "New" label. When you look at it, it will no longer post "New" for you, but others who have not looked at it will see it as "New" to them.
So New is a descriptive label for YOU, to make sure you don't waste time perusing through books you already have done so.

2. More on the "New" labels: When a book has pages added to it, it will show again the "New" label, even if you have looked through it before, since there is material you have not seen yet. Same rule on when it will vanish for you.

3. Sort up, Sort down, Sort alphabetically: When you consult the Approval Books list, you can sort on any columns by clicking on the column header. Click again and it will reverse the order of the sort. Here are the column headers that are sortable (hint, they all are):
Book Title Seller Pages Items Sold $Min $Max Views
So you can order the table in any way you need. Pretty neat!
This works in "New Books" as well as in "All Books", but in the All Books mode, the sort is within the Main Book Categories.

4. "New Books" capture older books with added material. The "New Books" sort captures the latest Approval Books, ie those issued over the last 7 days, default displayed based on % sold. But you can sort the list by book number (my favorite...as it is chronological and as your Moderator, that is where I start to look), seller name, number of pages.. etc... This capability has been enlarged and older books that have pages and material added to them are also captured in the new books list.

5. Those "On Sale" Price Reduced labels: They will display when the seller reduces the prices of some of the pages. In the spirit of full disclosure and to avoid abuse, may I encourage sellers to indicate in the book which page had its price reduced, and to refrain from changing prices on just one page, (we have no rule, but be nice). The label remains visible for 3 days prior to vanishing. Approval Books are often put on sale prior to retirement. This may or may not be announced in the Discussion Board, so keep an eye on the older books, if you are looking for additional bargains.

I will post more tips and "motherly" advice in future posts.
